My first visit to this food stall dated back in 1987 when my campus moved to depok. It was so small and narrow, but the owner prepared and served a hearty and generous size fishcake or pempek. It was definitely worth the money even for students.
Over the years, this South Sumatra delicacies business grew and have a number of stalls and restaurants. And on it continues to grow to date. The service remains as good, but the size of the fishcake in ratio to the price isn't. It's not expensive either, but you're not gonna get what you would back in the old days--if you are a regular to this pempek stall, you'll know what I mean. Suffice to say that it's good but not that good anymore. However it remains one of the right place to go and have a taste of...
Read moreThis is one of the Pempek places in the Pasar Minggu area. They say this place has been selling it for years. My two cents about their Pempek is that it is just okay. I would recommend they drench the red beans in condensed milk to give it a more delicate flavor and enhance the sweet taste.
The place is large. They have plenty of tables but a very limited parking area. I would not recommend going here by car, as there is no parking space at all. The price is standard for Jakarta. I spent IDR 66k for two pempek and one es...

They started out with just a small strip of location, and they expanded first to the back then to the side, so the place itself is so large now. Unfortunately, the taste of the place had a slight downgrade from the original founder's times, but it still quite good though. The size of the Kapal Selam is definitely price-worthy, big one ! The difference with other Pempek resto I think is in the Cuko (the seasoned black broth). In here the original taste of the cuko is sweet and sour, so it's okay for small kids to eat it. If you like spicy, then you can add the green...
