Singapore Kwetiaw Kerang — Restaurant in Jakarta

My recent dining experience at Singapore Kwetiau Kerang was quite enjoyable. Though my friends began the feast without me, I soon joined them amidst a selection of dishes heavily laden with garlic. If you are an aficionado of garlic, this restaurant is an ideal choice.

Singapore Kwetiau Kerang is a legendary establishment with over 30 years of history. Unfortunately, I didn’t capture any photos of the meal, as I was thoroughly engrossed in conversation with my companions. However, I did order a few dishes for myself that catered to those less enamored with garlic.

The Beef with Green Pepper was a decent choice. While it did contain some garlic, it was easily avoidable. My only wish was for the beef to be a bit more tender to truly elevate the dish.

The Fried Calamari was also enjoyable, though it fell short of being exceptional. It was certainly tasty, but not quite worthy of a five-star rating.

Outstanding service, the food will come minutes after you order. The ambience was great with its old decoration and knowledgable and friendly staff members creating a comfortable atmosphere. The price is also great. I personally loved their fried prawn with pineapple and cocktail salad due to its crispy texture and sweet tase. Their deep fried chicken was also perfectly cooked and their fried kway teow was superb. Good restaurant, I visit the place seldomly. Honestly they have only few signature dishes (tasty and interesting) Recommended : Kwetiaw goreng seafood, ayam goreng. Other dishes honestly quite mediocre for example Tiram goreng telur, Lindung Fumak etc. Soup is still okay. The food comes in 10 minutes or less. Staff are attentive and swift to assist the customers. Quite crowded on a Saturday night. Weekend, lunch and dinner times seem to be the peak hours. Good place to try when you visit Pluit area.
