Soto Betawi Sambung Nikmat — Restaurant in Jakarta

A random pick after teaching on a Saturday and ordered their beef soto betawi with additional emping on the side.

It is an old style place on the side of the road and the ambience was homey. You will find several tables and chairs for a group of 4 or 6 people, which makes this restaurant suitable for family brunch/lunch.

Portion wise, all are very generous— the rice, the meat, tomato, emping (crackers), and the pickled cucumber + green chili. You may add chili and sweet soy sauce as you wish since they put it on the table.

If you are expecting or craving to have a creamy medok soto, this is not the place. Their soto is the old-style watery soto, you can taste the spices that is refreshing, and don't be panic when they served it to you, although it looks red-ish but it is actually not spicy.

Service was okay, everyone was very warm and polite.

The parking lot is very limited, but as usual we do have "mas-mas" a.k.a the man on duty to help us park our vehicle, so you may try to ask for his help if possible.

For the price, honestly I was quite shocked. Hahaha, it was Rp 80.000 a portion (rice included).

Legendary Soto Betawi in South Jakarta. Soto betawi is Jakarta traditional soup with mixed beef and milk broth. In this place they also add chili oil that make it hot n spicy. You can order meat only or mixed. In mixed type they will add beef intestines, tripe and lung. All has been fried, served in little chunks Finally it is garnished with emping crackers and shredded green onion.

The taste is good as always. However I notice a.decline in the soup thickness.

Priced at 75 thousand including white rice it commands premium for similar food. The place has been renovated, it ia brighter and cleaner. However A/C is not exist so you will be sweaty...

This is one of the yummiest soto betawi (beef coconut soup) in town. Slightly on the sweeter side, they serve a plate--really, not in a bowl--of coconut milk soup with a selection of meat, lungs, and instestines of a cow that is sinfully delicious. At 75 thousand (USD6), it's comparably pricey, but it's so good that pay you must. And don't make the same mistake I did the last time I went here, I came at around 1.30 PM to find there's no soto left. Come as early as you can. They close at 2 PM or whenever they run...
