Warung Bukit Tuba & Shop — Restaurant in Kecamatan Abang

What an absolute gem, this place is one of the best finds from our Amed trip.

This family-run restaurant is just outside the entrance to Mathis lodge. The owner (Made) and his wife are super friendly and welcoming.

All the Indonesian/Bali classics are available but what really stands out is the BBQ fish which Made gets fresh from a local fish market, all at very reasonable prices. All you have to do is give him a heads-up via WhatsApp the day before, he will prepare everything for the following day.

There is a small shop with snacks and drinks too, again with great prices.

My partner and I came to this Warung from across the road and had the most wonderful experience! The owner was so bubbly, welcoming, hospitable and kind. We gave them notice the day before and they made us a whole grilled mahi mahi fish (catch of the day) with a delicious spicy sambal (you can choose the spice level) and a fresh salad with peanuts, green beans, coconut, onion and garlic. He sat with us and talked, we got to know more about the beautiful people in this valley. The beers are cold, the food is incredible (and very very fresh) and such a great price! Highly recommend, we are going back...

5 stars all the way for Madu and his courtesy service, honesty and food. At lunch it must be so much better as you can enjoy the scenery and the views. Very clean and tidy. Madu went to town to get a fish for us. And the food was tasty and honest. I will never forget dinner here. The whole family helped. Madu dreams that one day he will be able to to travel by plane like the guest who honour his establishment! I wish his dream will come...
