Camaya Terrace Restaurant — Restaurant in Kecamatan Selat

We didn’t have many dishes from here but judging from what we’ve had so far, the quality of the food served here is mediocre and overpriced (compared to other places we have stayed in Bali). Beef rendang is one of my favourite dishes. I’ve had many across the years in Asia and in the UK but never had one with the beef this tough and chewy. I frequently have salmon for breakfast but the smoked salmon that came with the Egg’s Benedict with the included breakfast was unusually fishy which made me feel slightly nauseated after. I changed the order to grilled ham with the Egg’s Benedict the next day which made it more palatable.

But most importantly, in our years of travelling together, we have never been served pancakes (which is usually the safest option to order) with raw batter spilling out from the centre. This is purely unacceptable for a hotel that charges up to £260 a night. Salmonella/ E.coli/ other pathogens can pose a serious health risk and can have devastating consequences.

Following our checkout from the hotel after consuming the inadequately prepared pancakes with raw batter, my partner had suffered severe food poisoning symptoms for the next 6 days which ruined the rest of our holiday. We raised this issue to the kitchen and the undercooked pancakes were immediately replaced, however it would appear that the first batch of pancakes, which he had already consumed partially before discovering the centre was raw was very likely to be contaminated with some harmful pathogens. He was bedridden for 4 days in a hotel room and had an IV drip administered in a hospital due to the prolonged symptoms of food poisoning, fever, and dehydration. A series of test results had shown a bacterial infection in the gastrointestinal tract and a course of antibiotics was required to clear the infection.

We came to Camaya for some peace and serenity from our busy lives but the week after turned out to be very stressful for us.

The kitchen & wait staff at Camaya Terrace Restaurant are amazing! They offer a full menu for breakfast, lunch & dinner & every meal we had was delicious! The menu prices are extremely affordable & throughout your stay they even offer a free compliment gourmet breakfast. When ordering all of your meals, the kitchen staff requests that you give them a time for your meal to be delivered to your room. Every one of our meals was delivered at the exact time that was given to the kitchen staff. Overall, our experience with Camaya Terrace Restaurant was top of the line & it truly was the best food we had throughout our 10 day...

I want to note that maybe this restaurant is not advertised as Instagram, but it deserves the best praise!!! The food here is much tastier - than in elite expensive restaurants and hotels. Very fresh and everything was very tasty.
