For the uninitiated, nyapii generally translates to “doing something with beef meat”. And doing something it does. The place is strategically located and has a decent ambience. They have both alfresco dining and an indoor dining, which is a shared space with a co working space. A few observation:
Ordering: The ordering process differs from most places. You order indoor (which seems to be a centralized ordering counter for both nyapii and the management running the cafe in level 1) and then collect the food outside when your food is ready.
Food quality: I would say it’s quite normal. The meat is definitely smoked beef (a tinge of the smoke can be tasted beneath). The rice is standard quality and the daun singkong (cassava leaves) is cooked well. The key difference between the choices is the sauces. I would say it does accentuate well with the beef however the sauce that I tried could be better improved. I tried two versions, the sambal tompang and sambal padang. The sambal padang was less spicy and quite fragrant and was more suitable for the beef. The sambal tompang on the other hand has a lot more kick and much spicier with a stronger taste of lime (jeruk nipis). In my opinion it’s way too spicy for the average consumer and even I (who have decent spice tolerance) was stretching for the free lemongrass drink and finishing it in a flash. The sambal left my tongue numb and unable to taste any subtlety of the beef. They definitely should indicate that this is too spicy for the norm. Also just to note, the beef is too thinly cut for you to truly get the taste of smoked process in the beef. The portion is also a tad lacking for the price point.
A side note is for the lemongrass drink that came along with the food. It’s decent and nothing to shout about but does not taste much like the type I have in Thailand.
Ambience: Pretty decent I would say. I like the overall decor and the outdoor is nice and cozy as well. It’s clean and well sized. No complains.
Service: Definitely something to improve on. My order was ready for almost 10 mins but there was no way for me to know that. They use a number system that relies on manual shouts. While that may sound intimate, they must have either missed my number or whispered too softly for me. I had to go and check the order personally to realize that my order was ready.
Conclusion: The concept is nice and the place is pretty good but I would not rank this much higher then a fast food. The taste of the food isn’t bad but it’s nothing to shout about over, I do find the price a tad pricey. However if I ever want to hang out in a place and just order something medium sized to eat, I wouldn’t mind...
Read moreCame here in mid-August, it looks like it's still early opening and the first outlet, so it's very crowded. • Service: Good enough, only the booking system is confusing • Price: Affordable • Taste: The rice is pulen, I forgot to order what menu and very spicy. The drinks are fresh • Place: Spacious, poorly maintained cleanliness • Booking System: Book directly at the checkout (indoors). After the message wait outside (in the container 'Nyapii') will be called according to the order number, we take it and ready to eat. For drinks, delivered to our table...
Read moreDefinitely a must try! Their Sei Sapi Asap (Smoke Beef) is really aromatic and tender. You can choose the 'sauce' to complete the meal : Saus Mentai, Korean spicy, Sambal Tempong, Sambal Padang, Bumbu Rendang or if you want to enjoy it as 'the way it is' feel free to order the original. My personal fav is the Korean Spicy tho!
The bundling is packed with Sei Sapi, Daun Singkong, Corn Rice, and a lemongrass tea.
Nyapii is located at the terrace of Startspace Coworking Space (Ruko Graha Boulevard) easy to notice from...
