Sang Kudo: A Relaxing Getaway Near Malang
My first visit to Sang Kudo was a delightful
If you're looking for a peaceful escape not too far from Malang, this place is a great option. It's roughly a 45-minute drive, even with some traffic, making it perfect for a weekend one-day getaway to unwind from a stressful work week.
What immediately stands out is the serene atmosphere. There are plenty of seats nestled within the garden, offering a very pleasant environment. While the vegetation isn't overly dense, it's well-maintained and adds to the tranquil vibe. A major highlight is the soothing big fish pond, which is incredibly relaxing to watch. You can even buy fish treats for a low price, and it's clear kids will absolutely love feeding the fishes.
The service here is good and friendly, and I was impressed by how quickly our orders arrived – food and drinks were served in just 7-15 minutes. While the food quality isn't anything special, it's certainly worth eating yet at some other restaurant satisfies the hunger more.
Sang Kudo is versatile enough for various groups. It's good for both small and bigger gatherings, and there are even some spots that are perfect for coming alone if you just need some quiet time. The nice view and distance from noisy streets really contribute to the peaceful ambiance.
There are a couple of small suggestions for improvement: They could really use an extra sink for washing hands. 🍲 Menu (+) They offer both full meals and snacks. (+) Try their savory omelet with sambal. The omelet is flavorful with spring onion bits, though it could be crispier. The sambal is spicy and packs a punch! (-) Ordered a mango drink (forgot the name). It had boba, jelly pieces, and something crunchy, but the overall taste wasn’t too memorable.
💁 Service (+) The staff is friendly! But if you need extra seat cushions, you might have to look around and grab them yourself 😅.
🅿️ Facilities (+) The parking area is quite spacious, though it might get crowded during holidays. (+) Truly a “cafe with city-light” for some spots! (+) There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, and both are equally cozy.
💰 Price (+) Prices are affordable, and what you see on the menu already includes tax and service charges. No surprises at...
Read moreThe view is the best, I think this is the main selling point of this cafe. My expectations were lower for the meal because, generally speaking, cafes that provide a view tend to have inadequate alternatives for food and drink, but this was fine. I had quite good fried banana and chicken wings. Cappuccino coffee tasted adequate, nothing special. Their main issue is the time it takes to have the order ready. This is extremely poor and needs to be fixed. Whereas they already use a self-service system for ordering wherein after placing his own order and paying up front, the customer receives a device from the cashier that will beep when the food is ready. And then the customer has to pick up their own food at pick up point. But even with that system, customers have to wait around 30-45 minutes for their order to be ready. This must be...
