Had an astounding experience at the Terrace with DeepRoots, so good in fact I came a second time (a year later). Firstly the ambiance and the aesthetic certainly sets it apart from the other restaurants on the island. It's beautiful and feels very special atop the mountain with views of Mt. Agung on Bali (I think is the name).
Our server Wahyu (I think is spelling) was amazing, attentive, and didn't mind that my party had a small kiddo. He was cracking jokes and didn't miss a beat. We were shown such hospitality and grace, and I had caught a few fishes earlier that day, which in addition to the jackfruit burger (11/10) they cooked up. They double checked I wasn't vegetarian (even though I brought fish, haha!)
There's 2 levels of areas to sit, and now I've sat at both, and they are good for different reasons. Down terrace has a beautiful green and is a little more separate from the bar, and below the pool--which has a small cascading water down, which is quite nice, and directly next to a Koi pond--which keep the little one occupied.
The main terrace is beautiful with a large bar, interior ish dining as well as outdoor poolside dining. We didn't have a problem with the bugs and got to really hear and see the wildlife at night come alive.
The spiciness level was really reasonable and flavorful. The seafood (I caught, but also table ordered a curry) was very tasty.
While I didn't stay there for the night, I did elect to go with their dive boat to see the manta. Their boat and facility was leagues above the other places I looked at on Penida. I felt safe and secure with a new boat and attentive staff. So good food, great hospitality, and awesome staff.
Also the Negroni. Get...
Read moreOur stay at DeepRoots Dive & Yoga Resorts was absolutely amazing, and one of the highlights was our dining experience at The Terrace Restaurant. If you are not staying at the resort, don't be shy, come in and enjoy the food & their gorgeous pool! We had the pleasure of trying their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and let me tell you, each visit left us wanting more.
The menu at The Terrace Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes to suit every palate. We couldn't resist ordering their Edamame Tofu Potstickers, and boy, were we blown away! The flavors and textures were out of this world. And for dessert, the Fried Bananas were the perfect sweet treat to end our meals on a high note.
What impressed us even more than the incredible food was the atmosphere at The Terrace. It was the epitome of relaxation and good vibes. We felt right at home as we enjoyed our meals, and the chilled-out music in the background added to the cozy ambiance.
Now, let's talk about the happy hour at The Terrace. They have a fantastic 2-for-1 drinks offer that had us feeling like we hit the jackpot! It was the perfect opportunity to sip on our favorite beverages while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. Trust me, there's nothing quite like enjoying a refreshing drink by the poolside during happy hour.
Oh, and let's not forget about their coffee. The cute coffee cups they use just added a touch of charm to our mornings. And the coffee itself? Exceptional! It was a great way to start the day and gave us the energy we needed to explore the wonders of Nusa Penida. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreWe had a mixed time at the Terrace for dinner. The place itself is very nice, although there’s no view of sunset which is why we initially came. The staff were very friendly when we arrived. We wanted the seafood for 2 but when we ordered they said they didn’t have it, which is fair enough given its low season, but maybe take it off the menu. The fish bisque was lovely however the chicken that said ‘sweet chilli sauce’ was farrrr too spicy, it was actually inedible. There was only one other table in the restaurant and they had the same issue with the sweet chilli sauce on the burger, she also could not eat her food. We both mentioned it to the waiter and were quickly dismissed with a laugh and a ‘honey SPICY chicken’. The response is what I took issue with. When he realised both tables had the same issue and we were chatting to each other he came out with a scoop of ice cream for the 2 people with spicy food. But we didnt want ice cream, we wanted to be able to eat our dinner. After that we were pretty much ignored by what had been a very friendly waiter before this. The 10% service plus 11% tax is higher than everywhere else. It was disappointing because this was our most expensive meal in Indonesia (we both ordered 2 drinks each) and we left feeling like we would have had a nicer time in a...
