Read moreAs a chef from Valencia (where paella originally comes from), I can only say good words about the team at La Paella. The service was very good — even though there was a small misunderstanding when one of the waiters didn’t realize I wanted two servings instead of one, but we were already full by then so it wasn’t really an issue.
The tapas and croquettes were exactly as they should be: tasty and creamy. The chicken croquette in particular was very good. The ensaladilla rusa was fresh and light, and the paella del senyoret was very good — especially considering that the seafood used comes from the other side of the world. Of course, Mediterranean seafood is the best in the world, with more intense and refined flavors compared to seafood from the Indian or Pacific Ocean, but they did a fantastic job with what’s available here.
I also read some of the negative comments, for example saying that the rice was “burnt.” Let me clarify something: that is not burnt rice — it’s called socarrat, and it is the caramelized layer at the bottom of the pan that truly defines an authentic paella. It’s not a mistake; it’s actually a sign of a real paella. Honestly, I think some people don’t really know what a proper paella is, or what good food should taste like, since their palates may not be used to it.
For me, this is the best and closest to a proper seafood paella I’ve tried outside of Spain. Congratulations to the team for the great work — I will definitely be coming...
Read moreHad a meal there on Sept 10th with my Indonesian girlfriend. We arrived a bit too early for lunch, but the service was so kind and friendly that they allowed us to choose a paella anyway. I really wanted to introduce my partner to something that I know and very much like, so this was a dream come true. The paella was just magnificent, I don't think I've ever had a paella this good. Not only it tasted good, but the way it looked and got served was something I had seen for the first time, really an interesting experience. We both really enjoyed it and I wish we visited your place more than once, but the rains and an unfortunate sickness of my partner prevented us from doing so. I hope we have the opportunity to try your paella again sometime in the future, when we visit Bali again. Thank you for amazing food and an amazing date. I wish you only the best. Greetings from Czech republic. Thank you and I hope...
