I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ujung Pandang restaurant, and let me tell you, it was a nostalgic and mouthwatering experience! Being half-Makassarese, the flavors of this cuisine hold a special place in my heart, reminiscent of my grandmother's lovingly prepared dishes.
The authenticity of the food at Ujung Pandang is truly commendable. One bite of their pallumara, and I was instantly transported back to my childhood. The balance of sourness was just right, perfectly capturing the essence of this classic Makassar dish.
What sets Ujung Pandang apart is their array of sambals. They offer five different varieties, each one bursting with unique flavors. Whether you're a fan of mild or fiery heat, these sambals will tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving for more.
A word of caution for those who prefer milder fare: Ujung Pandang's menu leans towards spiciness. However, I must say that embracing the spice is the best way to savor the true essence of their cuisine. If you can handle the heat, you're in for an unforgettable culinary adventure.
The satay Makassar at Ujung Pandang is a standout dish. The tender meat, perfectly grilled and served with a delectable sauce, is a delight for meat lovers. It's a must-try for anyone looking to explore the rich flavors of Makassar.
The ikan bakar, or grilled fish, is another winner on their menu. The smoky aroma and perfectly cooked fish make for a satisfying and fulfilling dish. It's a testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs at Ujung Pandang.
The only disappointment I faced during my visit was the unavailability of their telur ikan terbang. It's a beloved delicacy, and I was saddened to learn that it had run out. However, this minor setback did not overshadow the overall experience and the deliciousness of the other dishes I had the pleasure of enjoying.
In conclusion, Ujung Pandang restaurant captures the true essence of Makassar cuisine. The flavors are authentic, the dishes are tantalizing, and the atmosphere is welcoming. If you're looking to embark on a culinary journey that evokes memories of home-cooked meals, Ujung Pandang is the place to be. Just be prepared for some spice...

Original: After being recommended by a friend, finally we were able to drop by. (We did come a few days ago and they were closed from 15:00-17:30).
What we like from this restaurant, they serve a few type of chili, we ought to mix it ourselves according to our like / dislike.
Back to their core, the foods... yummy
I like their Makassar (Ujung Pandang) fried rice. It has chicken meat, prawns, and the rice is fried with special tomato paste. It taste great. Unfortunately, they couldn't put / mix some chili padi together with the fried rice. Otherwise it would be perfect. Oh yes, the fried rice portion is so much, 1 plate can be shared with 2 people or you are too full to try other dishes. 😀
We also tasted their squid. It was tender, juicy and cook well, with no overburn portion.
Beside that, we tried their snack, grilled fish cake (otak-otak bakar). I expected the fish cake color to be orange and it turned out white as normal Jakarta fish cake. And I didn't find chili as those original from Makassar. Although it taste great though (tender).
Last but not least, we ordered their crispy kangkung. It's very crispy and delicious. We will definitely...
Read moreI went to this place with one of my work colleagues. He recommended this place since he said the taste of food was amaizing.
Ujung pandang located in Versailles Shopping complex, its easy to spot from the road but from its building seems old.
The vibe is nice, its not packed with a lot of people at night. But its not that kind of fancy and private place place.
We order Ikan Sukang (its a rare fish to meet in a restaurant) the price is 150.000 / fish, but its quite enough for 3-4 persons to eat together.
Ikan sukang taste exactly like a crab. Its so tasty and I want to cry. They have various sauce and they can bake it for you.
They also have special salad made of vegetable. If you love the sour taste I recommend 'jus terong belanda'.
The experience is very nice, and its better if you come in a group since they are one-of-the-family-restaurant thing.
I give 5 of 5 for the taste. Its...
