Exceptional Dining Experience at Capriccio Restaurant – Novotel Bogor
I recently had the pleasure of organizing a surprise romantic birthday dinner for my beloved wife at Capriccio Restaurant, Novotel Bogor. Despite the last-minute arrangements, the team, led by Chef and team members Pak Harri and Mba Yessica, alongside F&B Manager Ibu Anne Adelaine Soraya, went above and beyond to create a memorable celebration.
The romantic dinner package was beautifully presented, with a charmingly decorated table adorned with unique small lights that created an enchanting atmosphere. The meal was impeccable, starting with a Chef's Salad as the appetizer, followed by a rich Italian Crema di Funghi soup, a perfectly grilled Australian Beef Steak for the main course, and finishing with a delightful Opera Cake for dessert. Every dish was exquisitely crafted and delicious.
We were also pleasantly surprised with a bonus: a set of beautifully captured photos and videos by Mas Rizal, adding a lovely memento of the evening.
Our children were also well-catered to, as they enjoyed a nearby play area and a special menu featuring spaghetti, juice, and various snacks – all of which they loved. The entire family had an unforgettable experience, thanks to the thoughtful touches and exceptional service.
A big thank you to the entire Capriccio team for making this celebration so special. This is truly one of the best dining experiences we've had, and we will certainly return for more!

Read moreI’ve been coming to the Novotel for nearly 30 years, and despite the hotel showing its age, I still love the whole setting, the park, and the atmosphere. Part of this experience – and something my family and I must have done at least 50 times over the years – has always been dining at the Italian restaurant, Capriccio.
In the early days, Capriccio was genuinely good and added to the charm of staying here. Unfortunately, over the years the quality of the food has steadily declined. The setting is still very pleasant, and the hotel service in general remains good, but the food at Capriccio is no longer what one would expect from an Italian restaurant.
During our latest visit, we ordered a tuna pizza and a salmon pasta. Both were extremely underwhelming. The pizza dough had the texture and taste of plaster, and the toppings were bland and uninspired. The pasta was completely tasteless – no garlic, no onion, no seasoning, nothing to give it character. Even after adding pepper, it still felt flat. I asked for Tabasco just to add something to it, but they didn’t have that either.
It’s disappointing, because Capriccio used to be an essential part of the Novotel experience. Now, the food feels like an afterthought rather than a highlight. I sincerely hope the management takes a closer look and brings back the quality and authenticity that once made this...

But in my most recent two visits, the food had been disappointing. When the ravioli I ordered came, I was surprised to discover that there were only 4 tiny pieces of them. The sauce was light in favour, and the ravioli tasted frozen. For something that costs about Rp100,000 ++, I expect much more.
