We visited this lovely place twice during our 3-day stay in Surabaya - this says how much we love it and the people there! The restaurant was big, bright and clean. Only the restaurant owner speaks English, but everyone is super friendly and tries to help. At our first visit, the smiley female chef used Google Translate to help us order food. We ordered an eel, a duck and a "kale", which is actually "morning glory". The eel was fried perfectly - even the bones are crispy and edible. The galic-and-shallot-stirfried morning glory was so delicious that we ordered another two portions! When we went back to the restaurant again, the staff recognised us and we were like old friends already. We ordered gourami fish and our favourite morning glory to take away. The owner very generously offered us to try their homemade traditional Indonesian drink Beras Kencur, which is a kencur rice drink has a wonderful sweet, savoury and spicy taste.
