Warung Bu Kris — Restaurant in Surabaya

Personally, this is the best Warung Bu Kris branch when it comes to food quality, service, cleanliness, and its cozy atmosphere during dinner time.

We’ve visited this branch several times on weekends for dinner.

For this visit, we ordered fried milkfish (Ikan Bandeng Goreng), fried tofu, fried gurame fish, and fried tofu egg (Tahu Telur).

The sambal that comes with any Penyetan dish is outstanding—freshly made, and you can choose your preferred spice level, from not spicy at all to extra spicy. You can also choose whether you want it mixed with shrimp paste or not, which is a great option for vegetarians.

All the fried fish tasted fresh, as shown by the tenderness of the flesh. They also had a crispy texture—so crispy that you can probably eat most parts of the fish.

What I liked about how they fried the milkfish is that it wasn’t overcooked—especially the belly part, which was crispy on the outside but still tender and creamy on the inside.

The fried tofu was soft on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and had no sour aftertaste.

The fried tofu egg was also great and I think it’s not available at other branches. It’s served with fried egg and crackers on top, lontong (rice cakes) at the bottom, and a separate bowl of peanut sauce on the side.

Great Food Great Taste. I usually order Nasi Penyet, which is rice served with sambal and fresh vegetables (basil leave, cucumber and sometimes cabbage)

The level of spiciness of the chili can be chosen according to taste, from not spicy, medium, spicy to very spicy.

You can order side dishes to eat together such as tempeh, fish, chicken, empal, etc. It's just that the table is quite limited with a serving time of about 30 minutes so sometimes you have to queue in advance to get a table. But don't worry, the staff on duty will take your order first while waiting for a table to become available.

gak ada masalah sama makanannya, Bu Kris selalu enak. tapi experience makan disini ga banget 🤡 waitressnya jutek, datang disambut ketus. kebetulan pesen menu biasa aja kayak lele, telur, tahu, sama tempe satuan pas salah satu waitressnya baca kembali pesanan kita dan pas tau kita pesen tempe goreng 1 potong, langsung melengos. apaan sih mbak? kan di menu ada menunya yaudah dipesen. pas baca kita pesen air es dispenser jg, langsung melengos lagi. gilaa saya bayar ya ini minumannya walaupun emg paling murah. tapi yang namanya ada di menu, ya suka2 pelanggan lah mau pesen apa nggak.

pas dateng, makanan belum lengkap dan galangsung dikasih lalapan. ditanya dlu baru dikasih. sudah separuh makan tempe gorengnya kurang 1, saya panggil mas yg sama belum juga saya selesai ngmg mau minta tempe, dia jawab sambil jalan "oh ya ya lalapan". emang saat itu lalapan saya belum dapet, tp kan itu saya panggilnya bukan buat lalapan 🙄 akhirnya saya bilang "bukan, tempenya belum keluar".

kecewa sih sama pelayanannya yg gak ramah dan memandang enteng pelanggan yg pesen menu murah. ini kebetulan aja lagi di citraland jadi makan di cabang ini. lagipula pesen menu murah sekalipun gapapa toh bayar dan makanan yg dipesen ada nasi, lauk, minum bukan cuman numpang duduk doang.

biasanya makan di cabang kayoon selalu suka dan puas sama pelayanannya. dilayani bener2, walaupun pesen menu yg murah sekalipun. saya juga kalau lg pengen makan menu mahal ya bakal pesen juga lah, saya mampu bayarnya. sayang bgt cabang ini mungkin kebanyakan beli yg mahal2 kali ya jadi ada pelanggan beli yg murah langsung ketus. semoga bs...
