Honestly, I’m not quite sure how many stars to give. Most of the food was pretty good, and the service was good in some ways, but not all the time. We ordered lontong, perkedel jagung, sate ayam, cumi sambal matah, and es campur. They ran out of the cumi sambal matah, so we switched to cumi bakar Jimbaran instead. The cumi wasn’t great and could definitely taste better. The lontong and perkedel were really tasty, and the sate and sauce were nice too. The tempe medoan was okay but looked like it wasn’t fried enough — kind of half-cooked?
The service was mostly good, with attentive staff, but then there was this weird thing with straws. We ordered iced tea and jamu, but no straws were given unless we paid 1,000 rupiah per straw. That felt pretty strange considering how much food we ordered. I get charging for extras sometimes, but straws with drinks should be included — it’s just good hospitality and hygiene. Airport prices are already high, so charging for straws felt off. Management should really rethink this policy.
Also, the staff could use some training on when to serve the es campur. They brought it out while we were still eating, so we asked them to take it back and serve it later. But they just left it sitting at room temperature, which wasn’t great because it’s supposed to be icy cold. The taste was fine, but the red boba was really hard to chew and...
Read moreLeaving a 1-star review for the worst ever experience in the history of my dining in indonesia. I was transiting in Jakarta en route to Semarang and wanted to have a comforting meal at Sate Khas. Stood at the entrance for more than 5 minutes and the wait staff sees and unsees me. No acknowledgement and no welcome. After that i had to initiate to engage with a waitress and even then she was reluctantly showing me to sit down at table no.16.
Went towards the table, put my bags down and sat on for another few minutes. No menu given, I raised my hands to request for attention and nobody bothered to look and acknowledge me.
Finally after another 5 minutes i gave up and decided to walk out from the restaurant. NOBODY from the restaurant bothered about a guest coming in and walking from their restaurant.
This is probably the lowest point in my many journeys back to indonesia when I am so proudly telling friends about indonesian hospitality. Will never set foot back into sate khas senayan knowing that probably i’m just a...
Read moreThis particular Sate Khas Senayan is located in Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-Hatta airport in Cengkareng. Considering the current state of restaurants in that Terminal, Sate Khas Senayan is argueably the best place to grab a quick meal while waiting to undergo the check in proccess.
Their interior is very decent, with some electricity plugs under the chairs. Perfect for those who need to shove some juice for their phone while having a meal.
They serve Indonesian culinary delights such as Nasi Uduk, Nasi Liwet and of course their renown various types of Satay.
I had their Nasi Uduk for dinner while waiting for a friend to depart. What came was a jolly meal with a lot of elements including a fritter, two sticks of satay, pieces of chicken, eggs and of course the spicy peanut sauce which made the dish officialy a "Nasi Uduk".
Though the food cost a tad bit more than their other branches outside of the airport, it is still worth awhile because of the practicality offered.
Cheers!
