I came here for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and somehow wiggled my way in quite fast. As it opened it doors not so long ago, and given it's recent viral reviews, I was expecting quite some line ahead of me. I had called in advance the night before, and they told me that they temporarily do not accept reservations on weekends and asked me to swing by the morrow.
So, when I was greeted with a waiting list, I complied. I assume it would be at least half an hour of waiting time, but I was pleasantly surprised to be seated in the next five minutes. Plus points for my server: Mbak Tiara.
We quickly browse the menu book, and it is not any different from any Nanny's other establisments. So, it's varied, but it's not overwhelming. A good selection of waffles, pancakes, and whatnots. And a healthy combination of fusion and standard western pasta. I opt for their oxtail pasta with a slight reduction in heat level.
We have to wait a bit longer than usual before the food were served, but obviously that has to do with the packed restaurant. Nevertheless, we were busy with our conversation, so I don't mind. They were well staffed, and a waiter is almost always a peripheral vision away.
My pasta was delicious. It is bold and spicy so it's a good summer dish. The oxtail was flavourful and tender. Mushrooms were fragrant and soaks all the oil. Bird-eye chili flakes liven up the dish too. Everything were harmonious with a slight kick of the chili. I say, you might always want to reduce the chili level like me because if what I ate was toned-down, the original would've made me cry (Like, maybe whimpering kind of cry. Not the ugly kind of cry). Overall, it was very good.
My mum's fish and chip was a little bit underseasoned, but the crispiness and the tenderness of the fish make up for what's it's lacking. Nothing too special.
The mojito was nice, lemon and honey a bit watery, and the chamomile tea was good. But, again, nothing to rave about. It's good. But, it's just good.
If only they can work on providing larger indoor area. I see that they work hard on their outdoor area, but I see not much people opt for outdoor seating since it's the scorching hot PIK area. So, maybe provide an all around indoor area? Moreover, there is no such thing like too much AC in PIK. So, even in existing indoor area, more AC capacity is a good idea.
Overall, good service, dependable taste, nothing too fancy, can use more indoor and AC. Definitely...
