Warung Sasak Gili Air — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

We loved Warung Sasak! It’s a beautiful little spot right on the beach with straw shades, bamboo tables, and that perfect island feel — pure paradise.

The food was great (solid 4/5) with tasty options and generous portions. I’m vegan and they were more than happy to accommodate, even though it’s not specifically a vegan restaurant and they don’t have specific vegan dishes in their menu. Prices were unbelievably cheap as well, especially given the setting.

The staff were friendly and genuine — it’s not the kind of place you go for polished service, but that’s part of the charm. It’s clearly a small family-run place with a relaxed, local vibe.

We actually ate here twice, which says a lot since we didn’t repeat anywhere else on the island during our 6-day stay. Good food, great prices, and a beautiful setting that helped us fully switch into holiday mode....

My Nasi Goreng Veggie (IDR 45,000 ≈ EUR 2.65) was absolutely delicious! The best I’ve had in Indonesia so far! The price-performance ratio is exactly what you’d expect here - top!

The service is a bit slow, modest, and friendly, just as you’d typically experience in Indonesia :).

The ambiance is quite rustic, apart from the ocean view. However, the beach is littered with trash, and there’s a strange smell in the air, which doesn’t make it a place you’d want to linger.

The clientele is somewhat shady, so I wouldn’t recommend it for families.

There were multiple Ants in our food, in the vegetable curry were like without looking too close 7 right on top, in the gado gado we spotted 2 ants and it didn‘t taste that good, the fried rice with vegetables was very oily and probably were there ants in it too, we also ordered spring rolls, which didn‘t come but he wanted that we pay for it and the vegetable curry, but i insisted and explained, so we only paid for the gado gado and the fried rice and left.
