This is my friends and family friends favorite Indian restaurant in Tehran. The restaurant is in Taj Mahal hotel.
The ambiance is nice and service was okay, our waiter was a little rude and acted as he did not have time to explain the menu. He seemed very annoyed by my questions.
The food however is amazing, the spices and herbs are all there perfectly seasoned and prepared well.
I ordered the lamb nann for appetizer, which is bread stuffed with minced lamb and spices, this was my favorite dish, I could not find such dish anywhere in Canada, maybe I’m not looking hard enough. The nann was soft and slightly crispy enough to hold the stuffing inside.
The two of us ordered roll lamb kabob and chicken Jalferazi with rice.
The roll kabob had a hint of Persian personality to it, it was juicy and tender but not entirely Indian like seekh kabob.
The chicken jalferazi was spicy and well made, it was absolutely delicious.
The food here is five stars but the service is about 3.4 stars. I believe there should be a balance for the best guest experience.
I heard that on some Friday nights they have live music and they bring live parrot around in the dining room which I could not confirm if they still do that.
Over all if you are visiting Tehran as local or non local and if you like to try Indian food I would recommend Taj Mahal.
Something to note that they don’t tell you that there’s a fee to take home the remainder of the food. I saw a fee of 38.00 USD and when asked what the fee was for, the server said oh that’s for take...
Read moreGuys Don't Ever Trust the Price They have Given On Menu.. Actual Price is More than Double.. At Menu It Shows Mutton Biryani as 98 Toman but They Charged 185 per Piece.. Fish Masala shows as 189 but Charged 280 per Piece.. I don't say Their Prices are Ridiculous or Sky High, That's Their Wish to Price Their Good.. But I'm Saying this for The Customers Who Order The Food Online by Looking at the Given Menu. Sometimes You may Stand Out of Cash to Pay.
I thought The Dinners I Ordered will be Around Maximum 500,000 Tomans. But It came as 1,099,000 Tomans.. 🤦🏾♂️
Please Confirm the Prices before You Ordered. I felt Very Sad for Paying This Amount for a Dinner.. It's Good but Not Worth Spending a Million.. . . . . . . .

Initially we asked him for table menus which he responded back with use your phone to scan the QR code for the menu. Which we explained to him we are really sorry but a day spent outside all our phones were low in battery which we needed to conserve to get a taxi back to our hotel for the night. His immediate response to all of us in a sour tone was “ Don’t eat dinner then “ which left a foul atmosphere for the rest of our experience for the night. As we were recommended this restaurant for authentic Indian food in Tehran. As Indian food lovers ourselves we knew our go to favourites so went ahead and orders those. We didn’t have high expectations at this point so went ahead with the night anyways despite the rude remarks from the floor manager and thought we’d give him the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, Food was not worth the price as taste was not there. Curries were watered down a lot and you hardly could taste the spices throughout all the dishes. Be warned their garlic naan isn’t like the authentic kind you are used to and you will be served big round thick bread with garlic paste in the middle which tasted like uncooked bread inside. If you love authentic Indian food and crave it I would suggest you skip this place and go somewhere otherwise leave yourself to be...
