I was staying overnight in hotel, and my parents and sister decided we'd eat at the New Yorker that evening before my flight the next morning. The reviews were good and the menu seemed to contain "safe" options for various palates.
We sat outside (trying to avoid Covid) and it was cold despite the warm July day - some shelter from the wind would have made all the difference.
I had soup which was poor, and served with stale soda bread. I'd spent the weekend in West Cork eating delicious bread with every meal, so it felt unnecessarily bad! My sister ordered stir fry noodles with chicken. The noodles were fine, but instead of chicken mixed in as you'd expect...it was just a chicken breast plonked on top. Like something you'd get in a canteen. Parents both ordered a burger. Mum's was fine, Dad's was burnt. I ordered cheesecake to share which was nice, but unmemorable and very small for the price.
Service was very friendly and that's why it gets 3 stars. There's a real warmth to the staff that makes you feel guilty for thinking the food is terrible. I felt completely robbed paying for the meal, however, and wouldn't go again. A sandwich from the nearest garage would be less of a...
Read moreWe dined at the restaurant this week and one of the orders was an Irish Beef Burger. Honestly, I couldn’t finish it and without a doubt, it’s among the worst burgers I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve tried many.
The burger had a dreadful texture, tasted like old, frozen meat, and to top it off, it was expensive. Far too expensive for something so poor.
I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but I believe it’s necessary for the manager, along with the chef, to experience a proper, freshly made burger somewhere decent and be honest with themselves about whether it’s truly worth serving such a dreadful product.
The restaurant itself is very comfortable, the pint was cold, the chips were perfectly fried, the salad was delicious, my partner’s dish was also good, and all the staff were impeccable and genuinely lovely. And then… you serve this? From the bottom of my heart, I truly hope you find a better supplier for your burgers, or make your own which is one of the simplest things to prepare, and can even be frozen properly to make life easier for the kitchen.
Please, reconsider this aspect and then, everything would be...
Read moreI booked reservations a month out because of the reviews. Host was a super nice helpful guy. Waitress was good except she didn't get our bill our bill in a timely manner but she seemed to have a lot of tables. Our main course took over an hour to come. That is why it gets four stars. Maybe they only had one cook. However, the lamb kofta appetizer came out within about 10 mins and was great. It is different than what I'm used to in the USA but wasn't disappointed. We ordered lamb stew, ribeye, seasoned veggies and the garlic baguette. All were cooked just as we asked and amazing. Although we spent nearly two hours there, I'm glad we did. Next time I would just order room service. The place was clean and...
