Was here with my partner. I don't like to leave any bad reviews, so if the owner sees this, please make a couple changes because I am sorry to say I won't be back for the food. That said I cannot fault the service. The fillet was 28.50 and the texture and flavour was poor. It was mostly medium rare which means it was cooked right. She had the sirloin which was the cheapest cut and also not great. It needed to be a bit more tender but that wasn't the problem. I can't put my finger on the problem exactly, but i reckon the beef was either frozen or a cheaper cut. The pepper sauce was 7 euro for 2 portions and was below par. I reckon from a packet, just add water. Needs to be creamer and better value. Chips were lovely. Onion rings weren't nice in my opinion. I didn't like the batter on them so they were either frozen or the oil needs a change if they were made fresh. It is cheaper to make nicer food from scratch. If I have uncovered a problem and you would like to invite me back, please reply and I'll be happy to give another go and change my review. Best of luck either way. Hope you take...
Read moreMyself and my 12 year old son went in for a bite to eat today much to the inconvenience of the two young waitresses. No hello just asked do you want food. I replied yes please, she asked 2 of us I said yes. We sat at a table and she literally thrown two menus on the table and went as I was trying to order two drinks. She didn’t even acknowledge my order for the drinks. We sat there for over ten minutes while she and her colleague chatted about fellas and the night before. I even asked are they going to serve us they looked and kept on talking. So we stood up and walked out. I said to them we are not going to stay sitting here without ordering. They just looked at each other and just half laughed. Absolutely appalling to treat a father and son like this after a day of fishing. Avoid this place doesn’t deserve anyone’s hard...
Read moreIt's been a while since we visited the Barge and delighted to see it hasn't lost its warmth and charm. The bar is very inviting with warm decor and down lighting. We were welcomed by the owner and 2 of his staff. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch which was great value. The half portion is a great option. We had 2 kids and they were catered for with high chairs, tasty baby bowls and plastic cups. A very kind staff member even offered us a take away bowl. A real gem in the heart of Leitrim Village. And the pint...
