I have never written a bad review before but really feel I have to after eating here. Food, service, cleanliness and value for money all very poor. First of all the waiter was friendly but had no knowledge whatsoever of anything on the menu and did not offer to find out in the kitchen so we had to ask him to. He then came out with a sample of the sauce I had asked about to show me or to taste but still couldn't tell me what was in it. My husband had the steak and it was rare, not medium as requested and was so tough and chewy that he couldn't eat it. He also asked for galic chips but didn't get them. I ordered the swordfish with truffle and parmesan fries. It came with normal fries and the swordfish was dry and served on a bed of cold tomato salsa. Our daughter got the penne pasta and was still hungry after it even though she ordered from the older childrens menu so we had to get her a portion of chips after which we were charged for. She had the chocolate milkshake for dessert which looked great but tasted like watery milk. The adults were not given any cutlery for their desserts and even after they were requested we still waited about 10 mins for them. The toilets seemed clean but had an overwhelming smell of urine.. We were with a group of people and none of us were happy with the food or service. We had small kids and when they got their icecream they were given big spoons and we were told all of the small spoons were in the wash 😤 The younger kids portions did not fill them either and these were a 2 and 3 yr old.
The chicken was dry, the brownies were like they had just been defrosted and put on the plate, keeping the icecream nice and cold. Even though we highlighted a few things there was no concern and no apologies. In the end it was a bit of a joke. Very expensive and we will be telling everyone to avoid this place. The food and service in the Sports Plaza was way better. Needless to say we will not be be returning or recommending this plce to...
Read moreI wanted to like Hucks, mainly because we hadnt been able to eat the day before as the restaurant was 'full' (read under staffed so they couldn't man all tables - we discovered this when asking why it's fully booked but half empty the following day...) So the good, back to the future is playing on repeat - you can't get much better than that! They have a pretty epic children's adventure soft play - and a smaller area for little ones/toddlers. The Cajun chicken was really good (chicken burger) and kids meal went down without a complaint, milkshakes also pretty good - look better than they taste and not very thick but certainly look the part. The bad; the rest of the chicken burger was mediocre, bun limp, the chilli pretty much non-existent and chips nothing to write home about. The starter of 'burnt ends' weren't like any burnt ends I'd had before, they were cubes of beef and just not what was expected. The garlic bread was gloopy and for a marked up price everything was just underwhelming. The service was fine but just not with any gusto or much of a smile, maybe because they were understaffed or maybe because the service charge is added automatically (you can request to remove it but I think it would have sent the poor guy over the edge and it wasn't that we wouldn't tip, its just you are not tipping for anything other than the minimum expected). Truth is I really did want to love it, I wasn't even going to review it (so excuse half started meals!) But for the cost I would not go back, shame as they have a captive audience at center parcs but nothing much to write home about and for me 2.5 is the max I could give - I was going to round up to 3 simply because I got to explain lots of scenes from back to the future to my daughter, but then remembered that I got to explain so many scenesas they forgot our mains and left us waiting until we politely had to ask so I sadly feel 2 is a...
Read moreWe ate here on our first day in Center Parcs on September 4th. Our experience was terrible. Firstly when we asked for a table, the assistant manager sarcastically asked the waitress how many seats were needed for 4 adults and 2 kids for to which she answered wrongly, which made it very uncomfortable. The food was OK, but at the end of the day it was a burger, chip and drink I got charged almost €30 for it. When we arrived at our table there was cutlery on the floor. Some of our party didn't get cutlery and had to ask for it. Our 2 year old had his order taken first but it didn't arrive until we asked about it, well after we started eating. Another of our party had beef nachos and they arrived without the beef, which we had to ask for. Our 2 year olds dessert didn't arrive nor did his juice drink until we asked about it, but he had gone to the play area at that stage. They also provided the wrong juice Flavor. I got a bottomless drink but never got asked if I wanted refill (although I'm not sure if this is the standard). One of our party asked for a burger without cheese yet it came with cheese. Two more kids ordered milk but it didn't arrive until we asked about it. The portions of chips were measly on top of it all. What's frustrating is that we asked the same waitress each time for the missing stuff and it was never met with an apology, it was met with a response that indicated she was aware it was missing and that it was 'on its way'. Given we had to ask her about missing milk, juice, dessert, cutlery and beef, I'd have thought she would have tried to ensure we had everything we needed. Again, the overall cost to feed 4 adults (2 women and 2 men) along with a 7, 6 and 2 year old...
