EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE! Is this Michelin Star fare? - No it's far better than that - it's real comfortable pub food cooked with care. Does it have linen table cloths and waiters in white shirts and waistcoats? - No it's far more relaxed than that and better for it. Is it modern and sophisticated? No - there are plenty of those elsewhere - this is a charming stone pub and restaurant with a genuine proper bar at the front - slightly turf smoke filled with proper bar and stools and filled with local characters and visitors alike. The restaurant is a high vaulted ceiling with beams - attractive and with various seating options to add to the charm. Is there a set menu? - No there is a rather large a la carte menu and an interesting extra number of 'specials'. I'm usually frightened when i see an extensive menu (how can they possibly offer all those items fresh and to a high quality?) - but Weirs manage that admirably! Is it expensive? - Absolutely not - it reasonably priced and really exceptional value.

Pat, Una and their team run an exceptional establishment here and it's always a warm, relaxed and comfortable experience.

Real quality long term Irish establishments like this are a priceless treasure. Places like this will survive recessions, pandemics and the like. Quality always rises to the surface and this place will continue to float right on top of it all. It's worth any driving diversion required to find a way to spend time here. I would recommend time enough for drinks plus dining....

Wonderful place. Enjoyed lunch with my partner and she marvelled at the fire as were sat at our table by a very welcoming and jolly maître d. The extensive menu looked confident and impressively varied, distantly varied even, something for everyone but none similar to another. This is a properly customer focused menu. Some places put other things first, like stock turnover, fridge space and fridge life, multi-tasking cross menu ingredients and, unfortunately, ease for the staff.

This is not one of those places.

Weir's is outstanding. Very, VERY impressed with the menu and the same with the service, the quality and presentation of the food. Everything was perfect.

The chef thoroughly enjoys the calling, perhaps vocation of excellent cooking. Clearly capable on a national standard and it showed.

The value for money flummoxed me... I still can't work out how they manage such high quality food for what our bill came to.... and yes ! I checked, it's a bill that means I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Lovely surroundings, pleasant atmosphere, comfortable relaxed gastropub that demonstrates pride and satisfaction in their knowledge that they're doing a great job.

Thank you Pat (and thanks for calling me back regarding table booking... much...

Went to Weir's Pub in Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath yesterday. Five of us in group. The food was all quite obviously homemade but beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. One of the group wanted to opt for a second bowl of soup instead of main course as the mushroom soup was "to die for". Another member of the group always gets soup but rarely takes more than half the bowl - needless to say that in this instance the entire bowl was polished off! The main meals were equally full of flavour and beautifully presented. On a personal note, I had a vegetarian dish (chef recommended) which was bursting with flavour and included butternut squash and nutter beans which truly added something special to a very subtly spiced meal. We were there for lunch and were treated to service from the owner's children & niece. They were wonderful, following very soundly in their dad's footsteps - altho probably more professional!!! Weirs in Multy is a treat a few minutes off the N4! Food is terrific, service is quirky to say the least (wonderfully so) - a perfect venue for a fun afternoon or...

My family and I booked a table for 1pm for a Sunday and were informed that the table was needed back at 2.30pm. Usual sittings at 12.30, 2.30 and 4.30. I had the hake with mixed bean and chorizo ragu with grilled Asparagus and baby potatoes at €22. It was excellent and so tasty: highly recommend. My husband had the salmon special with mashed potato and vegetables at €21 & he was very happy with this. The 2 kids shared a spaghetti bolognese at €6 which was devoured. We ordered a jug of Miwadi at €2, glass of milk for kid at €1 and glass of house white at €7 for the table between us. For afters, we shared a very tasty Eton Mess at €7.30 and kids ice-creams 2x €1.65 each and 2 Americanos at €3.20 each. Very family friendly. Well staffed. Great value given quality. Friendly welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely return. Keep up the great work, friendliness and value.

A hidden gem in a wonderful Irish village, whilst at the same time only a few minutes from a main road to Dublin. Weir's has managed to keep every inch of old Irish charm, and has a cosy, traditional feel inside. If you're looking for a reliable, wholesome meal that is off the beaten track - this is the place to go. On this visit, I had their battered cod with rustic chips and salad. The food exceeded my expectations - it was absolutely delicious! The portion size was also above average, and it was pretty affordable too. It won't take the full length of your meal to realise why Weir's, and Multyfarnam in general, is such a special place. It helps if its a rainy day too (so you get the full Irish experience), but that's just personal taste!

We only heard of Weir’s recently, despite living only 20 minutes away for two years. We had been warned that sometimes service can be a little slow, although our experience could not have been more efficient- we couldn’t have asked for better service throughout the meal. The atmosphere was very nice. The food was great- I had wings (very good), a steak (great, perfectly cooked), and the sticky toffee pudding. Our table also had the bread and butter pudding. The desserts were the star for us. Exceptional. I’m not sure if they make them on site, but if they do then massive credit to the chef. Will be back again, and often
