Two weeks ago my 13 year old girl and her friend bought a drink each with the intention of sitting inside and having a chat. However they were told they could not sit inside even though they are both fully vaccinated and had their Covid certs available on request. Instead they sat out in the cold and rain. There were plenty of tables available. In fairness, the other girl's mother has already called to the shop for an explanation. They claimed they were unaware that the children had their Covid certs. They never asked. I am only now complaining because I just discovered that my 17 year old and her friend had the same issue during the year, whereby they were told that Costa do not admit under 18 year olds to sit unaccompanied by an adult on the premises. They too had to sit outside. Obviously they were only told this after they had bought their drinks. These kids are not unruly. They are well mannered and pleasant. What I would like to know is why Costa Coffee differentiates between customers based solely on their age. Are they not customers too, paying the same money and should they not be given and be treated with the same respect and courtesy as the rest of us. Also, is this actually Costa Coffee's policy? I am a regular customer to Costa, and I often see children sitting inside, so obviously a little confused as to what is happening. Please reply, as the Costa Coffee Ireland Feedback site is conveniently...
Read moreOn Sunday, I experienced racial abuse from an elderly man in his sixties at Costa in Shankill. Accompanied by my nine-year-old daughter and my younger brother, I witnessed an unsettling encounter. The man struggled to use the card machine, resembling an iPad, prompting my brother to politely suggest that he tap the top part. In response, the man aggressively retorted, "Mind your own f-ing business and go back to where you came from."
He further stated, "You are in Ireland now." When I asked him to elaborate on that statement, he refused to respond. I also heard him mumble something about being a woman, though I couldn't catch the exact words. His behavior escalated as he began licking his lips and eyeing me in an unsettling manner. He had a distinct accent, which I could not pinpoint—possibly African or New Zealand—but it was clearly foreign. When I confronted him regarding his remarks and inquired about his origins, he merely laughed and declined to answer.
This experience has left me feeling unsafe about returning to that Costa. Such behaviour is utterly unacceptable and should not be tolerated in...
Read moreI went in to get two caramel frostys today and when I got my drink it was just blended up milk with a tiny bit of ice, no cream was used. When I went back to ask for my drink to be remade I was told that it was made the way it should be and that I was being fussy. After I got my drink remade it was still the same. Staff in the shop were very rude, giving me dirty looks, and being very negative towards other customers. This only happens when certain staff members are working. Think costa need to talk to their staff about rudeness and they obviously need to be trained how to make simple drinks. This happened on Monday the 4th of April at 3pm completely unacceptable and I will not be...
