Yesterday, we celebrated my wife's birthday at Leopardstown Inn, accompanied by a group of 8 adults and 6 kids. Approximately an hour into our meal, a waiter approached our table expressing concern regarding the energetic behavior of the children. We immediately acknowledged their request and took proactive measures to ensure the children remained well-behaved and under our close supervision. However, to our surprise, the waiter returned and informed us that other guests had complained about the presence of our children.
I calmly explained to the waiter that we had taken their initial warning seriously and had been actively managing the kids' behavior since then. It is important to note that our children were simply displaying typical childlike behavior, which is expected in a family-friendly setting.
Given this, I couldn't help but point out that if Leopardstown Inn does not cater to families, it would have been more appropriate for them to decline our booking when we informed them about our children. I find it difficult to understand what they expected us to do in that situation—should we have abruptly left, especially considering we had already received our meals?
It is disheartening that despite having previously visited this establishment on numerous occasions with my wife and even with my company employees, this particular experience has left me with little desire to ever return. The incident significantly dampened our mood and overall enjoyment of the occasion.
Additionally, I want to make it clear that the waiter who initially approached us was very understanding and handled the situation well. It seems that the concerns raised originated from the manager, so this feedback is directed towards the Leopardstown Inn manager and...
Read moreDecember 2022: As a long time local who stopped going to the Lep a long time ago I have generally been very impressed with the place since new management took over. Food is overpriced (€30 for a pub steak??) but that’s not why I write. The last 2 visits now have been disappointing…a warm bottle of wine followed by a warm bottle of beer followed by a totally flat pint of lager served all within the same meal. Yes the place may have been busy on the night in question but unless you’re discounting bills it’s irrelevant to the customer. On a more recent visit the Guinness was fairly brutal, having been good even up to now. Standards seem to be slipping. I’ll be giving the place a wide berth for the next while so you can get your house in order.
Update December 2023: Decided to try again. Very disappointing food. Fish was tasteless. Chips dried out and overcooked. Waitress replaced the chips when I mentioned it and they were still poor. All 3 of us at the table thought the food was poor. Conservatory...
Read moreGreat pub, staff are sound, pints (esp Guinness) are always delicious. Really nice to have a vegan option in a pub, for years they have had a butternut squash risotto main, as well as cauliflower wings for starters. Cant complain about having a vegan option but it would be nice to change it up every once in a while, although I think now recently they offer a vegan nut roast instead of the risotto. Would be nice to have more options, even 2 mains. Got the cauliflower wings twice, one time they were raw and coated in flour, not nice but the second time they were delicious and properly cooked-maybe it was a new cook :) Always packed whenever there is a match on, good atmosphere. Staff are sound, definitely makes the experience. Big pub with plenty of seating, they have a dj at the weekends. 10 min walk from the LUAS and big car park outside with a spar and wine shop. Decor inside is homely, bar out the back is good for private events/work drinks....
