We were looking for an accessible pub to bring our friend who was in crutches following a recent operation. Lounge and bar were completely full. But after scouting ahead I found the bar annex empty. To avoid our friend having to wade through the crowded bar I suggested that they come to the front fire door of the annex. I opened it a couple of times to see if our friend and his partner were arriving. Moments later the senior barman came up the steps and angrily asked us not to open the fire door as it was alarmed. I told him we were trying to allow our friend access but he wasn't for turning and reiterated that it should not be opened. This led our friend to navigate the busy bar. Upon trying to step up to the annex, he fell. Kind customers and I rushed to his aid. Once he composed himself the barman reappeared asked what was the matter. I reiterated to him that this was why we wanted to bring our friend through the front door. He remained angry and reiterated that it was a fire door. I asked if it was right to ask a person on crutches to come through a crowded bar and up steep steps was the right decision after our friend had fallen. He was unapologetic and pointed to the door sign saying mind the steps. After suggesting to him that reading the rulebook to us was not what we expected after the obvious distress we experienced. We simply wanted to get our friend safely into the bar tp enjoy some hospitality. He was unapologetic, got angry and suggested if we were taking that tone we were unwelcome. None of our party had taken a drink or raised our voices. We left to visit a fine welcoming establishment in kilternan. I have visited the Step Inn a number of times in recent years and service was good from other staff members but will not be returning so long as senior staff treat customers in an unfriendly and arrogant manner like described above. Do yourself favor and check out neighboring pubs in Kilternan, Barnaculla and Sandyford where you will get a...
Read moreThe food was well presented and looked great, but as far as taste went it didn't quite hit the great standard, but it was definitely good and tasted nice. The Service hit a home run and ticked the amazing box with plenty of nice friendly and attentive waitresses that where good at their job. The owner can be proud of his staff. As far as value for money gos I'd say the starters we had where on average about €2 over priced, the main courses where priced about right no issues there and the deserts were similar to the starters and about €2 too much for what they were. It Wouldn't have made a big difference to our bill considering it was over €700 but I did feel for the size of the starters and deserts that they were not quite worth the price being asked. The Drinks were fine and priced around were youd expect in a Dublin pub. The pubs decor was nice looking and well laid out. Unfortunately the toilets stunk but to be fair they did look reasonably clean. The pubs atmosphere was great and the music was good, So we settled the bill and stayed around and had another good few drinks at the bar brining the final cost to around the €900 mark so as I said above the few euro on the starters and deserts didnt really make much of a difference but I felt that the starters and deserts need to up the game abit to command their price or knock a euro or...
Read moreWe go very often because it is very close to our home. but on our last visit we were met with a very rude behaviour. it was past 9 o'clock in the evening when we went and we had a friend with us who came to that place for the first time. we asked if the kitchen was open. they said it was closed. after ordering our beers, we said that we were very hungry and could we take away something from a nearby place and eat here. the waiter said yes you can. After 2 minutes he came back and said that we could only eat in the smoking area. it was convenient for us because we were very hungry. when we went and bought pizza and came back, the manager came up to us and said you can't eat here. we said that we asked the waiter and he told us that we could eat in the smoking area. He said yes, I know, I told him no, but he misquoted him to you. so what should we do in this case? go eat on the street, he said. we couldn't believe this answer. it was a very rude and disrespectful answer. moreover, it was their own fault. and we no longer go to step in. we...
