The White House — Restaurant in Fingal

First time there and will definitely be the last! On entering the establishment the place is nice but reading the menu I was very unimpressed. Not a great selection. Ordered prawns with Vermicelli Puff Noodles to start however I didn’t expect dried small Chinese noodles on the plate. They where pointless and added no flavour or substance to the dish. Equivalent to eating edible paper. If anything took away from the prawns which where cooked nice. After we both had Roast Chicken Supreme with Tagliatelle Pasta, The pasta came out as spinach infused pasta i.e green this was ok but the pasta and sauce itself was bland and tasteless. No seasoning, it was like pasta in a rouge sauce , very basic with no evidence of Parmesan or any flavour at all. We didn’t eat the pasta at all. For €20 for this dish I came in hungry and left hungry. I was asked was everything ok by three separate servers to whom I made aware of our issue with the food but nothing was done until when handed the bill I complained how their lack of customer service skills to deal with a complaint is apparent. I suggested we should have been offered a coffee or something as we paid for a meal we didn’t enjoy or eat. Only then did they offer a free drink or dessert even then that wouldn’t have been done if I didn’t make them aware of it. Bad training is down to bad management. Update September 2024. The said waiter is in fact, the owner. Changes nothing about the review. Attitude remains the same after 2 years. Just wanted to update. First time I visited here. We went in and sat down a down at a table. Waiter came over and said "that table is reserved" and walked away. Leaving us to wonder if we were welcome or if we were an intrusion. So we went and asked the gentleman, politely, where could we sit and he pointed at a table. His whole demeanour was arrogant and had I been alone I would have walked out, but we stayed. The place itself is very nice and certainly a pleasant and well taken care of establishment. I got the impression that the toilets had not been cleaned since the night before as there was loo roll in all the cubicles. Not unclean toilets but unusual for 13h00. Overall, a place I will go to again and the rating would have been higher if it wasn't for the experience...

Menu was very good and ambience perfect this time of year. Staff very attentive and service was good. Turkey and Ham special today was very tasty. Prawn linguine was also a special and was a good choice. The kids seemed to like their chicken and chips. Just the cranberry sauce for the Ham and Turkey was quite sour which was a shame. Desserts for kids were fine. A good selection of wines at this venue. Two things to note. 1. Service is good but they never took away empty glasses when getting new drinks, despite piling them together for their convenience (we had small kids at the table and it was difficult to move away from the table ourselves).
