I am appalled at the service I received yesterday Sunday 29th May! On arrival a lovely young waitress acknowledged us and we were given a table. I observed the next table having problems with their order and having to ask for missing items but just put it down to one of those things. After some time I had to ask for a Menu even though it was not that busy. My order was taken by another young man who forgot the drinks so here is my problem! None of the waiters waitresses made any eye contact and I said “excuse me” as one passed the table and was ignored, before he left the room I repeated myself and no response. Another table got annoyed and told me he must have heard and was very rude! I told them not to worry as I would deal with it. I managed to get the attention of another waitress and simply asked if we could have our drinks as it was forgotten, another waiter brought out the wrong drinks but I patiently waited for it to be resolved. Before we left the same waiter who ignored my two requests for help walked up to our table and placed two pints of cordial down without eye contact again and before he left I told him we did not order it! He just completely ignored us and walked away. This time the table to my left were furious as the witnessed all of the above and the drinks were for their kids. The table to my right also said they were not happy with their treatment. I said no more and went to pay and was not asked if everything was ok because obviously they do not care. I did say i was very rudely treated and surprised no one was interested in what people thought of their meal. Clearly no interest in what people think of the Galway Plate as a shrug of the shoulders as a response. Most people don’t bother with reviews but if you look I’m not the only person to find it poor. As for the food it was ok but the staffing is a real issue in this establishment, I wonder is their a change in management as it used to be a very good...
Read moreThe worst experience I’ve ever had eating out! And now from reading the reviews I wish I paid more attention! Firstly we were seated by someone who seems to be the manager, and should be happy with customers coming in, to only make us feel extremely unwelcome and awkward. From the very beginning our experience was horrible and if we didn’t have 3 young children that we wanted to be fed before a long drive as we were already running behind time we would of walked out. All our drinks where slammed on the table, we ignored as this was done by the so called manager and just put it down to him having no hospitality skills and maybe stress. While waiting for our food TWO family’s walked out due to how they were greeted. When We were then served our breakfast (food was cold, toast not cooked for more than a minute, all our beans where literally just the sauce) it was all put in one corner for us to hand out ourselves. When ordering more toast after being given a basket of what was meant to be toast, the waitress THREW the basket into the middle of the table where 3 KIDS ARE SAT. When leaving the manager was confronted by the rude behaviour and he couldn’t of cared less, he was also told that his attitude wasn’t appreciated either and again he didn’t not care for it It was as if they were all in on it and the moment they seen and heard our Dublin accents they did not...
Read moreWe went here for breakfast, I ordered a half breakfast €10 (added chips for €1 perfectly reasonable). My husband ordered an omelette €11.50, he wanted chips with the omelette, and asked for 2 sausages on the side. When we went to pay the bill was €31.50!! Not worth it at all for what we got. Charged €20.50 for an omelette, a few chips on the side and 2 sausages. I understand that there should be extra charges, but it should have been €1 extra for the chips (same as it is for every other breakfast on the menu) and €1-€1.50 for each sausage. The few measly chips and 2 sausages cost €9.... That's more the a kids meal! The Galway plate used to be a brilliant restaurant, but that was a ridiculous price to be charged for a basic breakfast. When I asked the waitress why they added on so much she said she changed me for a mini breakfast on top of the omelette. Maybe look into how ye are charging people, I understand that there had to be extra charges, but that just seems ridiculous. I won't be back in a hurry. Very...
