Monk's Lounge at Muckross Park Hotel — Restaurant in Killarney Municipal District

A lot of the reviews here are a bit old and out of date but our experience with the Monk's Lounge was a very good one. Their bar staff know how to prepare outstanding Dingle gin and tonic. The fruits and the herbs really augment and complement the natural fragrant smell of Dingle gin. I also like how we were given just the right amount of ice too. Their summer fruits cheesecake was also superb. I loved wonderfully presented it was (and it looked like it was garnished with a bit of edible gold which looked fantastic against the black plate) and it tasted truly delectable. Our experience was enhanced further by the good taste in music of whoever was in charge of picking the songs and their interior designers. My overwhelmingly positive and 5-star experience with the Monk's Lounge is making me want to stay at Muckross Park Hotel...

Me and my girlfriend just came in a little after 2pm after visiting Torc waterfall and Muckross Abbey hoping to get some lunch while waiting on the Red Bus an hour later. We waited at the Monks Lounge reception area to wait for a table to be told it's residents only. No sorry, apologies or recommendations for anywhere else for some lunch.

From looking online, this doesn't seem to be the case at all - it allows me to book a table on the website. There were plenty of seats available inside and outside to cater to 2 guests.

Considering this is directly across from Muckross Abbey and there are tourists here regularly I'm shocked. If this is how they treat people, I'd rather spend my money and...

Wow. Whoever the manager is needs to step up and assist the staff when busy. After our lovely Jaunty ride our driver recommended Monk's Lounge. The food was ok. Not great for an upscale hotel. And the staff was working as fast and hard as they could.....obviously short staffed....upper management needs to get off their duffs and assist. All hands on deck. Unless of course theyvare also short staffed. Also the fireplace was not lit and that would have created a better ambiance. And the spotty service would have gone unnoticed. Our desert was ordered late and our server was kind enough to give it to us complimentary. Monk's was barely ok. But it has the potential...
