The Eden House Gastro Pub in Rathfarnham presents a curious blend of modern gastro dining within the framework of a traditional Irish pub. On a recent Sunday lunchtime visit with my family, this juxtaposition became particularly evident. The carvery offerings were commendable my seafood chowder was rich and flavorful, and the apple crumble dessert provided a delightful finish. Service at the carvery counter was efficient, ensuring minimal wait times. However, the dining experience was marred by the ambience. A group of patrons, engrossed in a Liverpool football match, were vocally enthusiastic, peppering their conversations with coarse language and banter that included derogatory remarks. This created a challenging environment, especially with younger family members present. Additionally, it's worth noting that the establishment's smoking area does not permit dogs, and dining is not allowed in that section. This could be a consideration for patrons accompanied by pets or those seeking outdoor dining options. In summary, while the Eden House Gastro Pub delivers on its culinary promises, potential visitors should be aware of the atmosphere during peak sports events and the restrictions in the smoking area.

Food is terrible since covid, prices are extortionate, and the barmen are as rude as it comes. They clearly hate what they do and it appears management won't address the problem as it's been reported endless times in many of the local groups I'm in. I was even charged €1.50 to put 50ml of milk in a babies bottle... barmen ignore you, don't even acknowledge when you place an order and happy to leave you standing there for 20 minutes at a quiet bar. Was brilliant before covid but has fallen off a cliff since. Won't be going anymore. To note - I am not sure what the Edens reply is referring to as I am not part of those groups but I've added a screenshot of just one of the groups I was referring to. Might be worth management having a read. P.s. I just had a read of that Joe Bloggs comment you are referring to and I see he has had a very similar experience. The fact that your default response is to try and suggest the customer is the problem says it all about the future of the Eden... which is a pity really because it has so much potential.

I had dinner few times, and it was ok, except last Sunday, on Father's Day, we served a tasty "brownie" dessert. Unfortunately, only the dessert was realy nice. The fish portion...was disappointing, the fish remained on the plate, hard...and with a pungent smell...and paid in advance. When we were asked for an opinion, we had an honest one but, unfortunately, nothing offered instead .The waitress didn't come back and the fish remained on the plate, paid in advance. In the other portion, the ham was a bit raw in the middle and hard to chew but the turkey was cooked well. The presentation cuting apetite, all the vegetables piled on top of the meat, bathed in gravy, a very low appealing plate and, at the end, after presenting the uneaten fish to the counter, we were offered an ice cream as compensation. Total Disappointment 😞

I don't often leave bad reviews and don't like to, but I think the owners of this place need to take heed. It's their business here and I presume they want it to have a good name. Looking here and in particular TripAdvisor, unfortunately it has a bad name. We went there today and 6 of us were seated at a large round table with nothing on it. Nobody came to us to offer us drink or menus or anything. It was only after a while when we saw people coming in with trays, we realised it was self service carvery. Fair enough but we could have been told. One of us got thr carvery and the rest of us wanted food from the menu..usually this would be an order taken from our table but we had to go to thr carvery counter to order from thr menu. The result was one if us ate alone while rest of us waited for our meals. Thr staff seemed genuinely confused, as we're we. We sat down and I asked about drinks to which I was told to go to the bar.. when I went to the bar I ordered a coke and glass of iced water. I was told the water is on the counter and the bar man pointed at a group of pre poured glasses of water. I'm sorry but this I found quite gross. People leaning over the bar, possible coughing sneezing. Hair falling off them.and I was told to take a pre poured glass. How long was it sitting there? Who knows... Eventually we ate and not once did anyone ask us if we wanted more drinks or anything. The only interaction we had with a staff member was after we ate to ask us to move to a smaller table if we were staying on, because the larger table we had was needed. I've heard good things about the Eden but this from start to finish was really disappointing and I felt very underwhelmed by the place I expected to be top class. It was in fact on the opposite scale. Given its location and the years it's been operating, maybe the management should really take a long hard look at how it's been run and pay a little more attention to customer support, attention and...

I love to give reviews even if good or bad so here it goes well turned up to the eden for a booking of a family of 13 seating in a nice area however there is no handy way of getting out of your seat if everyone is seated 5 people need to get out before you do if seating in the middle lol nightmare, if coming with children they don't sell jugs of juice strange especially when serving food they sell point glasses or glasses 1,30 or 1.95 absolute rip off considering we had 7 children with us,prices of drinks were shocking 7.50 for a bottle of wkd 🫣 9.50 for a bulmers absolute robbery, pricing of the food is wayyyyy over priced 22e for a chicken curry full of oil 🤮 tiniest bit of way over cooked rice that was stuck together and about 10 chips and a very stale poppadom I couldn't even eat it and I eat curry every time I go for food this was the worst iv had , the lads got burger meals the burgers were tiny not worth the money and were tasteless full of grease the pizza was the same greasy and nobody et it the kids got garlic breads and soups for starters they wouldn't even eat the garlic bread and two of them said the soup was horrible and would be the usual starter when eating out the goujons an sausage and chips kids got they loved chips were tasty chicken wings were delish very small portion again for the price it is a fab restaurant to sit in but the food for sure needs to be sorted and some bar man very rude when asking a question maybe needs to learn some manners waiting staff very good attentive only reason we didn't complain as it was a family members birthday and we didn't want to make a scene but I think a review...

I recently visited Eden House, a place that used to be a reliable choice for a good carvery. However, my experience this time left me thoroughly disappointed. While the food was never outstanding, it had always been decent in the past. Unfortunately, the standard of the food has significantly declined, and coupled with the substantial increase in price, it's no longer worth visiting.

Upon arriving with my family, we noticed a considerable drop in the quality of the meat. All the meat served was dry, and to make matters worse, most of the food we received was cold. This lack of attention to food temperature and texture was truly disheartening.

Moreover, my wife, who has been a regular customer for years, would usually order a half portion without any issues. However, we were informed today that half portions are no longer available, except for older individuals. This sudden change in policy left us feeling excluded and disappointed.

While Eden House does serve large portions of food, it seems to prioritize quantity over quality these days. In comparison to other dining options available, the decline in food quality makes it difficult to justify the inflated prices. It's clear that other customers have also recognized these problems, as the place was noticeably emptier than it used to be.

In conclusion, the once-nice Eden House has failed to maintain its standards. The increase in food prices, coupled with the decline in quality, has made it less appealing compared to other dining establishments. Regrettably, I cannot recommend it as a satisfactory...
