Palmerstown House Pub — Restaurant in South Dublin

Very disappointing! I organised a family party here last night. Paid 60 euro per platter and it was basically full of chips only 6 pieces of chicken per platter to feed 20-25 people and for 120 euro for 2 platters not good enough at all, to be honost they were the most miserable platters i have seen. Staff could do with customer service skills. When we went to do the cake we were given no side plates, napkins or cutlery to eat with. When i asked for them the response i got was "did you not bring your own" and the reason i didn't was because i rang the day before to ask about that and was told over the phone they would supply everything. I basically had to argue to get paper spoons. We were not allowed to cut our own cake which was fine. I stood at the bar with the cake and the waitress cut some of it and then wiped the knife in a dirty tea towel that was sitting on the bar and was going to cut the cake again. I had to tell her that was disguisting and to clean the knife. When asked to speak with a manager there was no one available. Staff not helpful at all. Towards the end of the night the drinks where definitely watered down and i was not the only person who thought this from our party. Went to the Palmerstown house today for food - it was a Sunday around 4pm so it was very busy.

Nobody seating customers, when we asked was there a table for two we were told to wait at the bar and someone would come and find us. We waited at the bar for around 15 minutes and seen a table become available so we sat ourselves down.

I had to go and find a member of staff to come to the table to take our order.

We waited 40 minutes for our food. I had chicken wings and aromatic duck and my wife had the roast of the day - roast beef. The food was appalling. The wings were soggy and tasteless and the texture was as if they had been boiled. The aromatic duck was crunchy chunks of meat on soggy pancakes, the meat was so crunchy and overcooked it was impossible to distinguish it from any other type of meat. My partners roast was a very small portion and was cold but otherwise was ok. I would usually advise a staff member but it was near impossible to get service. Even as I was paying I was not asked the usual courtesy of “was everything ok for you?”. Also a to note a family sitting next to us had finished their meals and ordered 4 brownies for dessert, it took 30 minutes for them to be served...

We eat there regularly so we brought some friends , the blonde waiter was just rude for nothing when we arrived , not good customer service at all! The food took nearly an hour to arrive & the woman got so annoyed that my friend had asked her to send back the chicken wings as they were cold & made a smart remark , we couldn’t even enjoy our food as she came between the tables “cleaning” , then it came to pay & they caused a big scene saying that they don’t pay seperatly but yet have done it lots of times before? Then when we were trying to figure out how much to pay each “mark” came over and made a big scene saying he was going to call the police , if I could give this place 0 stars I would , will never come here again! I’m so embarrassed as I have never experienced this before and he had made a scene in front of people acting as if we were not going to pay , when most of my friends had already paid and we were trying to sort out who was left!
