Lyons Takeaway — Restaurant in The Borough District of Clonmel

I've been a regular customer at Lyons for some time now, usually visiting every few months, and I’ve always appreciated the consistently friendly and welcoming staff—they're truly wonderful and a highlight of the experience.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing and concerning. I ordered the Chips & Chilli Chicken meal, which came with chicken tenders, chips, a side salad, and garlic and sweet chilli sauces.

Right away, I noticed the salad was quite dry and lacked freshness—aside from a single slice of tomato, which was the only thing that seemed fresh. The dressing was decent, but overall, the meal didn’t meet the usual standard I've come to expect.

Not long after eating, I experienced severe food poisoning—the worst I’ve had in a long time. Since this was the only meal I had before falling ill, I strongly suspect something in it may have been spoiled. After checking online reviews, I noticed that others have also reported similar experiences with food poisoning, which makes this even more concerning.

I'm not writing this out of anger, but out of genuine care for the restaurant and its customers. Please take this feedback seriously and ensure that all ingredients are thoroughly checked for freshness and expiry. Food safety should always be a top...

I called in here on a Thursday afternoon around 5pm,. It was moderately busy, with about 5-6 people waiting for their orders. I approached the counter and stood waiting for one of the 4 or 5 staff to serve me.

Most people when their waiting on their orders will move in towards the walls to allow others to stand at the counter, where I was. There was a few moments when I was staring at the staff to be asked if I was ok. Not one single member of the staff did! It wasn’t until another 4 customers who had come in after I did, were served before me, that I decided to actually say to one of them, “am I going to get served at all”? At which point I was served.

It took approx 34 minutes from entering the Premises to being handed my order. it kinda negates the meaning of “fast food”,..

I honestly do not understand why they don't just have one person taking the orders like every other chip shop in the world. Instead they seem to think it's a better idea that whoever takes your order then goes and gets it and eventually someone else rocks up to the till for the next customer. The chips are fine but not great. Their chicken however is surprisingly very good as long as it's fresh, it's a bit of a gamble if you get delivery at busy times.
