My partner, our dog, and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. We started with drinks on the terrace with an amazing sea view—I enjoyed a refreshing aperitivo cocktail, while my partner had a gluten-free, alcohol-free cider (great options for different preferences!). The welcoming vibe convinced us to stay for dinner, and we’re so glad we did. This cozy fish restaurant and pub is incredibly dog-friendly—our pup was allowed inside. The staff was very nice to welcome our request to give a bit of plain cooked fish to her. They served her fresh cod in a takeaway box! They also had water bowls outside and gave her plenty of attention. The food was fantastic—my partner had the pan-fried seabass fillet (gluten-free, with baby potatoes, mushrooms, and pesto beurre blanc), and I had the cold seafood platter, both fresh and delicious. The desserts and coffee were outstanding, and the prices were fair for the quality. The atmosphere was relaxed, the sea view was gorgeous, and the staff were so friendly—to both humans and dogs! Highly recommend for a great meal in a dog-friendly setting. We’ll definitely be back! P.S. Don’t miss a post-meal walk along the coast—Ballycotton is beautiful!

A truly magnificent meal was had here by myself and my husband, exquisite cooking and presentation and service friendly and efficient without being effusive. I ordered from the a la carte and my husband the table d'hote at a very reasonable 36.00 euro for three courses. I began with the scallops, small and succulent with a cauliflower veloute, my husband had the potato croquettes with a crispy hens egg.and smoked haddock. Some lovely seeded bread preceeded the starters. My main was monkfish with wilted broccoli and Queen's potatoes bathed in seaweed butter, incredible! A razor clam jus bathed the fish. My husband had the hake which was perfectly cooked, crispy skin and moist inside The desserts were heavenly; a salted caramel tart which was the perfect blend of salty and sweetness and was not cloying. My panacotta with strawberry jelly, fresh strawberries and honeycomb was light and delicious. This was one of the best meals I have had in years! Well done to the chef and staff.

We went only for an early bird dinner. The view was spectacular. The three-course meal was good. The starter (egg croquette with smoked haddock) was the best of the three, although my friend thought it a bit on the salty side. The red mullet (the young waiter said the fish if the day was monkfish) was just slightly dry, but the sauces and vegetables were perfect. The squid rings also were slightly overcooked, giving a chewier texture than what should have been softer. The shortcrust pastry for the caramel tart was undercooked and gummy. The salted caramel brittle was slightly on the side of too burnt. And the Beamish ice "cream?" was watery, lacking flavour. The milk served for coffee afterwards had spoilt, but, the waiter brought a new cup of coffee with new milk and an apology.

Three of us had a late lunch in Cush Restaurant in Ballycotton recently. My two friends ordered from the set 40 euro 3 course menu. I ordered from the other menu as the set menu only had 2 mains - one was fish and the other was lamb. Neither of which I like very much. I ordered slow cooked steak. The cost of my main course alone was 33 euro. I got a lump of very fatty meat, no veg, no roast pototoe and no mashed potatoes. There was a small dish of boiled potatoes in skins on the centre of the table between 3 of us. None of us enjoyed our meal. It was very overpriced & tastless. When I mentioned quality of beef to waitress she said she would pass my issue on to her superior. No one came back to us with any kind of an apology. Our bill arrived...One friend had ordered 2 x glasses of white wine at a cost of 10 euro per glass. The bill had 1 x glass of white wine + a bottle of white wine at a cost of 40 euros. We did not have a bottle of white wine. My friend called the Waiter to say this. His reply was "I will change your bill". My friend was in shock as there was not even an apology for the error on our bill. Needless to say we did not leave a tip as we usually would, and all of us decided there and then that we will never eat in this restaurant again. Unfortunately another fine example of rip...

By personal invitation to The Cush restaurant my family and I were waited upon like royalty. This gem of fine foods is hidden near the harbour in Ballycotton. As you enter Cush restaurant you are met with warm and elegant staff and furnishing. The restaurant boasts beautiful, unique hand painted wall mountings of crayfish symbolizing the wide variety of seafood on their menu. Whilst being hosted by owner, Pearse Fynn himself we were treated to this fine dining experience to remember for years to come. Every carefully plated dish was perfection! The aroma of freshly prepared hand picked scallops tingled the tastebuds as we all ventured out to our first taste ever of this well known seafood delicacy. Not one but two mouth watering varieties of scallops were served. The tender steak served thereafter was just as tasty, ending our meal with a gorgeous after dinner drink. Pink champagne, delicious food and the most awesome company. Pearse you are truly a beautiful person with a heart of gold. Thank you once again for all you have done to ensure that our destination was all we never expected it to be! Beyond amazing! God willing, we will be...
