Let me try to temper my enthusiasm here... It was my first meal out since lockdown and I was understandably giddy with excitement! That said, I was dining with my two aunts, who between them have ALL the food intolerances are are... well... picky and impossible to please.
I had a driving disaster followed by a parking disaster, so we arrived an hour early. In the pourings of rain. Caught between spending an hour playing 'eye spy' with the Aunts or throwing myself upon the mercy of the hostess at Harte's, I chose the latter. Thus began a truly lovely dining experience.
We were invited into the warm and cosy bar to wait, where we had some drinks and chatted with a lovely character who was in for a pint. The waitress asked if we'd like to check out the menu. My heart skipped a beat as the Misses Picky threw septic eyeballs over the offering...
To my utter amazement, both ladies found items to please which took account of their intolerances. I texted my husband, I was so amazed!
The ladies plumped for the braised beef and the monkfish special and barely spoke, the food was so delicious. I had the stuffed baked sweet potato and I hadn't much to say either!
Our waitress was lovely, there were no issues with tweaking the dessert to suit a Coeliac and our desserts were so scrumptious that I ordered another to take home to the Hubby.
I couldn't fault Harte's one bit. Everything was perfect. I would give more stars if I could. I heartily recommend Harte's for a lovely dining experience and you needn't take my word for it; the Picky Aunts raved about dinner all...
Read moreHeard good feedback from friends. Tried it and unfortunately ended up in a disaster of a evening for us. Won’t write the whole story coz it’s long and mad but cutting it short, You get limited time at the table and you all the time feel rushed and spied on. The waiter literally came over kinda waiting for us to leave . That was rude, then paying the bill he won’t move and give us space and time. Last 30 min of our time we ordered desserts and came after 20 min, meaning we’ve got 10 min to eat quickly and leave. Omg 😱 my 3 years old son, loving his ice cream but couldn’t eat it quickly as it’s too cold for him but we had to rush him coz of the time of course (. My husband got angry at the waiter attitude and also at the managers, nearly wanting to fight, wouldn’t listen and we after spending 130 euros there. Come on! Zero professionalism and what about customer service?! 0 There is no excuses for such behaviour when you work in that sort of business. The food was good tho, can’t complain on that but because of attitude will not go back and will shout it from the rooftops if I need to. Really horrible evening. Never going back. Won’t recommend. Will be left with that bad experience and it’s just sad. It’s it not...
Read moreMade a reservation for two at 6pm, when we got there at five minutes to six we were told our table wasn't ready and to wait in the bar. So we waited, for 20 minutes, until my boyfriend finally went in to ask about our table, which was ready, I guess they just weren't going to come and get us or let us know? There were two items on the menu that I could eat as someone with lactose intolerance and one was a desert. The food we did receive was ok, my starter of goats cheese and melon was bland, it seemed and tasted as if they had mixed the goats cheese with cream and piped it onto the plate, there was very little flavour left and where goats cheese doesn't affect my intolerance, cream does, so if there was cream that wasn't listed on the menu that's obviously an issue. The beef brisket was good. My boyfriends chicken wings were also good but his steak was dry and overcooked. I'm disappointed because I have been here several times and always enjoyed the food, but I had never experienced such poor...
