During our 3 weeks vacation in Ireland last June of this year, 2022, some relatives of my wife treated us for a dinner at the Clashganny House Restaurant near Borris, County Carlow. We visited this place, Friday evening, 9 PM, 17th of June. One enters a small entrance & reception hall. To the right is the dining room, quite small but cozy. We had a table for 9 persons which was placed near the door. Once seated, it took a long time before our orders were taken. I did not fancy any starter but my wife had the tomatoe soup of the day which she thought was good. I ordered & got Pan Fried Skate Fish. The fish tasted good. It was fried without any flour coating, had a crab-meat-like texture, nutty flavor, low in salt, lacked a little taste of lemon & had a little melted butter as sauce. It was served with fried asparagus, a small tomatoe & a couple of fried prawns, together with fried potatoe bits & boiled broccoli. I had a glass of white wine with the meal. Lastly, we had coffee & dessert, I had warm Chocolate Fondant served with a scoup of Chocolate Ice Cream, with streaks of chocolate sauce. It was quite an enjoyable dinner with relatives. Highly recommendable.

An exceptional dining experience with a menu which caters to a wide span of palettes. The decor is quaint and cozy and really drew attention to the detail put into plating. Highly recommended for those seeking a social dinner evening in a cozy rural setting.

I can only repeat others. The food is very tasty. If you are looking for something different, you'll get there. If you like traditional dishes, you won't be disappointed either. The quality is there and the price is accurate. Highly recommended!!!

We had the most enjoyable evening my Husband thought his food was delicious but for me it was outstanding because I have a dairy allergy. This always causes a lot of discussion with the end result being very bland basic food and lots of mistakes thrown in for good measure, butter on the veg mashed potatoes with grated cheese the list is endless.Clashgranny was wonderful from dairyfree bread dairyfree butter and i had a full choice of starters and main courses .Usually the most miserable part of the evening for me is when the dessert menu is handed out and I am presented with melon but not in Clashganny I had apple crumble with berries and dairyfree vanilla ice cream. We had the most relaxing evening with wonderful food looking forward to...

Ok, have to declare that our local family have had girlfriends working there in the past, but you just can't beat an owner run restaurant for quality. Great menu and service. Real quality food. Not for snacks or fast food. This is proper real chef food. Had calamari followed by the beef on Sunday myself, wrapped up wet Sticky Toffee pud. No complaints. My brother-in-law had the seabass wet risotto, which I personally thought was a smallish portion, but he seemed quite happy with his choice. Never been...
