A Gem on the Kerry Coast: The Oyster Tavern
From the moment we stepped into The Oyster Tavern in Spa, Fenit, Tralee, County Kerry, we knew we were in for a treat. This restaurant isn't just a place to eat; it's an experience in warmth, exceptional food, and genuine Irish hospitality.
The quality of the food and service is simply outstanding. Every dish felt like a celebration of fresh, local ingredients, prepared with skill and passion. To begin with, the Seafood Chowder, as expected was incredibly fresh and the Brie tartlet was super tasty. But it wasn't just the starters that shone; the main courses were a testament to a kitchen that truly cares about flavour and presentation. It's clear that a lot of thought and expertise goes into crafting their menu.
What truly elevates The Oyster Tavern, however, is the service and hospitality. The entire team made us feel like cherished guests. Their professionalism was matched only by their genuine warmth and friendly demeanour. Nothing was too much trouble, and they anticipated our needs with a smile, making our dining experience seamless and incredibly enjoyable. As we were celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary for my parents we had a mix of ages, and they were very accommodating for all requests for both younger and older guests.
Indeed, the whole team, from staff to owner, were an absolute delight. Their collective passion for what they do is palpable, creating an atmosphere that is both relaxed and refined. It's rare to find such a perfect blend of efficiency and heartfelt care.
The Oyster Tavern is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal coupled with truly delightful service in a beautiful setting, look no further. We left feeling utterly content and already planning our next visit. Highly, highly...
Read moreMy friend and I went to The Oyster Tavern for a meal on a Saturday night. For starter I got the red onion and brie tart-it was tiny! Looked ridiculous on the large plate. 5% pastry, 5% brie , 90% red onion. Not nice! My friend got the garlic mushrooms -a much bigger portion and very tasty! Our mains were unbelievable, so so tasty. I got the hot fish selection, my friend the monk fish In a prawn and leek sauce. Both were 10 out of 10. Personally I don't think steamed carrots and peppers suffice as a veg side but that's just my opinion! Had plenty mash and chips.
The dessert. To be honest we were both stuffed but looked at the menu anyways! And I remembered their famous chocolate fondant! We had to get it but could only manage one between us. This has significantly decreased in size and was just cakey, no oozy inside. We didn't bother to finish. Very disappointed.
There was a hurling match on the TV so it was naturally very busy, and loud! We waited for ages for somebody to pass to ask for the bill. That didn't happen. So I got up and went and asked for it. I was asked to hang on while it printed and was handed a piece of paper... We waited at our table for a bit but my friend eventually had to get up to pay as she was paying with card. Not the end of the world but shouldn't have happened. When the service was good it was really good, and prompt but when it was not good it was really not good. Having said that everyone was very pleasant. A very...
Read moreThis place was such a treat for the weary travelers that my Dad and I were at this point in our epic Ireland adventure. The wonderful manager at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel had sent us here to wait for our bed and breakfast owners to make it back from Dublin. The staff was so gracious and accommodating. First let's start with the food though. The oysters were amazing. We got both the natural and grilled oysters to start both were amazing! Then we both got different seafood specials that didn't disappoint. Then the staff were such great people we couldn't thank them enough. We left to meet the B & B owners nobody was home. We ended up coming back my phone was useless in the area and we couldn't get ahold of the owners. They called them found out they got held up by an accident on the way. So we ended up just having to hangout with the great staff in a wonderful place until the owners came and joined us before heading back for the night. What a fun experience and so happy to be able to share it with the great food and staff at The...
