Would certainly recommend.
Short review:
Service was phenomenal and staff was very friendly and helpful. Tempura prawns were amazing, and the duck with Tamirind sauce was great, but the sauce seemed a bit over-sugared .
Detailed review:
First thing I noticed was that the restaurant was beautifully decorated and had a great atmosphere.
When ordering the food, the staff was very friendly and helpful, telling us in advance what was not available, and reccomending us some of their signature dishes. The menubhadtmenu had asa huge range of dishes, including plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options (all clearly marked) I ordered the Tempura Prawns, and I ordered the duck with tamarind sauce (one of the dishes recommended).
The tempura prawns arrived within 5 minutes of ordering, and were presented beautifully. It consisted of (very) large battered prawns, one onion ring, some beansprouts, a red cabbage leaf and some carrot carved into the shape of a rose, complete with sweet chilli dipping sauce. The prawns were incredible. The batter had a satisfying crunch and bite to it, and had a very subtle savoury-sweetness that complimented the prawn well. The flesh if the prawn was delicious, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The onion ring had a light, smooth and crisp batter that went well with the rest of the side. The sweet chilli dip was great, and had just a hint of spice, which added a mild kick to any prawns dipped in, but not so much as to distract from the flavour of both the dip and anything dipped in.
I ordered the duck with tamirind sauce with egg fried noodles. This arrived about 15 minutes after the starter had been cleared away. It was amazingly presented with a generous quantity of duck for the price. It came with a red cabbage leaf, carrot, and little bits of crispy fried rice noodles. The first bite of duck was incredibly flavourous and tasty, and the fat was crispy and had a delicious, sugary coating. All the veg was carved into the shape of roses or leaves, and the attention to detail in the presentation and food went above expectation of the price.
The noodles were delicious, and had an especially nice flavour. The beansprouts in with it added a nice crunch. The quantity of noodles was fairly generous as well.
The thing that stopped this from getting 5 star review from me, was that after getting into the duck dish a bit more, it began to be increasingly sickly sweet. The already sweet duck absorbed some if the slightly over-sugared sauce, and the crispy bits of rice noodles became soft and chewy after being in contact with the sauce for too long. The other person in my table who had the same dish had the same experience.
The other people on my table had equally good presentation, and had nothing but good opinions on the food. The restaurant was full of amazing smells from other people's food, and customers on other tables all had incredibly well presented food.
Overall a great experience, but I would only recommend the duck tamarind dish if you have a decent tolerance for 'sickly sweet' things. Great value for such well presented food, sizeable portions, fast service and friendly staff, as well as the...
Read morevisited this place for dinner Friday evening. the deco is very much in line with the restaurant theme. The place is clean and has a lot of staff. The service is interesting with overly engaged staff. Multiple people come over to ask the same question. The food was delivered to the table 8-10 mins within the time of order which I would say is a bit concerning as I would question if it was freshly made or preheated. I would say the taste of the curry was very good but the fried rice was a bit soggy very...
Read moreWe had a terrible awful experience today while being served. Waitress was so rude as others mentioned in the comments and she was showing faces when explaining to order food with allergic intolerance and asking to make the curries vegetarian. Manager was empathic and apologising but sadly not the waitress. I wish staffs are advised to be little empathic and kind to the guests. We had visited before once, food was bit average but...
