The Highwayman — Restaurant in Peel

Ok, nice interior and obviously popular, there were two book clubs in with us. The two young ladies who served us were lovely and attentive. BUT...We ordered half chicken meals. We've had the same in Douglas at the Barbary Coast where the chicken was tasty and succulent, cooked to perfection. Sadly at the Highlander the chicken was, and being blunt here, well overcooked, stringy and very dry. Sad really because it is so easy to get right. There was only two other meals besides ours being served at the same time, so this overcooked meal can't be excused by 'sorry, we were so busy Won't be...

Right TLDR over priced, so dont get me wrong with this review the place, staff and everything that goes along with it was good, pleasant, clean etc. The 1star review is for the price. I was in the area last weekend with my son. Who said he was hungry. Saturday pub lunch? Easy. I had the bangers and mash, he had a chicken wrap, chips x2 coke x2... £48! Wayyyy over priced for what it is. Were my sausages made out of gold? Was my sons chicken flown over from Singapore? Did our 2 Coca-Colas have actual coke in it? Get a grip its a pub lunch not a 5stsr restaurant. No wonder...

The Highwayman is a fantastically decorated community pub that is criminally underused by its local residents. Not a soul entered the bar on my visit which was concerning.

Madri lager was the only none bitter option available on my visit which was upsetting as there is Beavertown Neck Oil on if you’re lucky. There’s a host of Okell’s on offer if that’s you’re bag.

I was promptly ejected from the establishment at 11pm sharp....
