Flora Café — Restaurant in Acireale

This is a decent place with a very good pizza from a real pizza oven, made with fresh ingredients by mostly classic recipes. We came here as a group of 5 to have a dinner. We came early (at 19.00, which is early for dinner by the Sicilian standard - they usuallu start after 20.00). Overall great impression.

Location: a very close proximity to a major highway to Catania, yet a clean, peaceful and very quiet place. We came here from Aci, it took less than 15 minutes. I didn't notice any public transportation option available though. The parking for approximately 30 cars lot was almost full, when we arrived.

Design and feel: the building looks modern and we'll kept. A lot of nice flowers and other plant on the premises. Prevalent white in the design combined with tall ceilings and huge amounts of glass, natural materials and modern looking lights really make a great feel (for my Northen-ish European taste).

Personelle: very pleasant and professional. Our host was nice and helpful, although she didn't speak much English. We managed to get great food with little to no hassle.

Service: that was fast. 15 minutes and we got 4 pizzas and 1 pasta ready. The main reason is that the restaurant was empty, when we arrived. Yet I doubt like, that with their impressive Pizza oven there would be any slowdowns on the kitchen side.

Food: it was very good overall. Pizzas were excellent, pasta carbonara was just OK. I enjoyed the fresh and crispy pizza with Mortadella and pistachio, which was something new to me and ended up to be a great choice (thanks to the host recomendation). Their home wine and beer were also good.

Price: we paid 70 EUR for a dinner for 5 persons including drinks. That's 14 EUR per person. It is about the medium price for tge region and a great value for money, considering how nice this place is and the...

Se dovessi valutare esclusivamente il gusto della pizza, gli ingredienti e l'impasto, probabilmente sarei stata più generosa. Il problema è stato il sentirci raggirati al momento dell'arrivo e solo per questo, darei un voto ben peggiore. Non troviamo il menù sul nostro tavolo, ma la cameriera arriva a prendere comunque l'ordine. Insieme alle bevande, che, per carità, ci può stare che siano portate immediatamente, ci chiede se vogliamo un "misto fritto" e noi, del tutto ignari, accettiamo. Qualche secondo dopo, giusto il tempo di aprire il link col QR code appena reperito, vediamo che il misto "piccolo" (tra l'altro non di molto pregio, come avremmo amaramente appreso poco dopo) costa ben otto euro. Rintracciamo la cameriera in circa trenta secondi, non di più, ma l'ordine non viene cancellato perché "già in cottura". Avrei potuto anche sorvolare sul fatto che abbiano sbagliato la mia pizza per due volte, questo può succedere, ma lo riporto per completezza, specialmente qualora in risposta all' "incidente" del misto fritto ammantassero la velocità supersonica di risposta alle esigenze del cliente. Mi spiace molto, perché il locale è davvero carino e se non fossero stati furbetti mi avrebbero guadagnata come cliente fissa. Se riuscite a essere più scaltri di noi, potrete comunque godere una...

Il cibo è accettabile e di livello, ma i prezzi sono assurdi. Il modo di agire da parte del titolare è scorretto, anche se andate a prendere un semplice aperitivo con grande mastria ti rifila in tavola molte pietanze anche se non le avete richieste con la conseguenza ti farti spendere un botto e buttare via il cibo, infine fate attenzione al conto perché abilmente ti carica roba in più anche se non è stata per niente portata; a noi ha caricato molte bevande in più dal costo non indifferente e per fortuna che me ne sono accorto ricevendo di riflesso le scuse, per le pizze avrebbe dovuto portare 2 sole pizze, tra l'altro molto costose, ed invece ne ha portate 3, mentre per il dolce (non richiesto) dopo varie sue insistenze ha portato un intera torta, ovviamente che abbiamo dovuto pagare. Il tutto è stato tutto molto poco professionale, io non tornerò mai più al Flora caffè neanche per un bicchiere d'acqua fin che tanto non cambierà la gestione con un altro titolare. Quindi se avete intenzione di passare una serata ad Acireale vi consiglio di provare altri posti. P. S.
