My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner and it was a major disappointment. Firstly, our waiter came over to us to take an order and we hadn't even received menus yet. This was at least 10-15 minutes after being seated. Nobody informed us that there was a QR code on the back of the table number. Other guests had physical menus in their hands. Also, others, seated after us, already had water and wine on their tables. My husband ordered spaghetti with clams and, for the second time at this "seafood" restaurant, he was told the dish was not available. He was told he would need to call ahead and make a reservation for spaghetti with clams. This is one of my husband's go-to dishes. He orders it all over Italy. Such a response has never been heard by our ears anywhere in the country! My husband asked why, and he was told that the owner only wants to buy local products. My husband worked for the Salerno fish market for 10 years and, in the Salerno Gulf, you don't have clams in the necessary quantity. However, there are telline, lupini, cannolicchi and tartufi di mare. The best clams you can find in Italy are from a natural lagoon in Sardinia. A SEAFOOD restaurant that doesn't have this classic dish available? This scenario reminds me of an "Italian" restaurant in CT that didn't have spaghetti available. You might as well close your door. My husband ordered a glass of wine and the man who opened and poured it did it so rapidly that wine dripped into his glass of water and on our tablecloth. The same man took an empty wine bottle and was tossing it like a performer of acrobatics behind my head. This was not the atmosphere for such behavior! The restaurant is very expensive for what we ordered. When we approached the counter to pay our bill and leave, the owner handed us a pre-check in an attempt to avoid paying taxes. We informed her we'd be paying by credit card. Sketchy business. We won't be visiting again,...

Franco and his family welcomed us, guided us, assisted us and fed us with the attention you might expect from family. He shared with us his garden and fruit laden trees, he gave wonderful advice about visiting the Blue Cave at Palinuro, he very kindly offered to drive us to the station. It was as if we were staying with family. Agropoli is a tourist destination for many Italians but not many tourists of other nationalities. I think we were the only Australians in the town and something of a novelty for some of the shop keepers. If you want the ‘real’ Italy I think this might be it. Make sure you dine at the restaurant (I have written a separate review for this). Have a look at Franco Carola’s YouTube Chanel to give you a view...
