Il Galeone — Restaurant in Alghero

I’m really not the type to write reviews, but in this case I simply have to. Don’t be misled by the nice photos and positive ratings – our experience was truly disappointing. The interior wasn’t exactly my style, but I trusted that you can’t really go wrong with an “Italian” restaurant. Unfortunately, this one proved me wrong. The service was slow, we waited quite a while even though the place wasn’t busy at all. My son ordered a hamburger, which turned out to be just beef patty, half a sausage, and fries. OK, but this should definitely be specified on the menu. I had a tuna steak with salad – the salad was the only edible part. The fish smelled terribly, and after three bites I had to stop. My husband ordered calamari, which tasted like a frozen semi-prepared product simply thrown into the pan. He had been really looking forward to them, but ended up disappointed as well. Siamo stati in questo ristorante sabato sera con tutta la famiglia. Il locale è spartano, ambiente familiare e prezzi economici in linea con il posto. Purtroppo il problema è il servizio molto approssimativo e troppo lontano dallo stardard minimo accettabile: 1 pizza non è arrivata, dopo 10min, su nostra osservazione, se ne sono accorti e l'hanno preparata..ok, può capitare. 1 pizza, la più pregiata, in fase di ordinazione, abbiamo chiesto di aggiungere il sugo quindi di farla rossa: quando è arrivata il pomodoro c'era ma si erano dimenticati di mettere la mozzarella; alchè glielo ho fatto notare e il cameriere (che probabilmente é anche il gestore) anzichè prendere e rifarla, ha cominciato a chiedere se poteva andare lo stesso, se era buona, che dovevo capire...tra l'imbarazzo e il fatto che non l'avevo ancora assaggiata mi sono sentito molto in difficoltà e ho provato a tenerla. Purtroppo era immangiabile perchè il sugo era anche stato aggiunto a crudo quindi si sentiva solo l'acido della passata cruda senza olio e con funghi ed insalata sopra. Quando è tornato a pulire il tavolo glielo abbiamo detto: non era buona ma non ha battuto ciglio. Fino a qui, avevo classificato l'episodio come superficialità ma non avevo intenzione di scrivere una recensione negativa se non fosse che, quando arriva il conto, ci accorgiamo che oltre al fatto che la pizza era presente nel conto (ovunque l'avrebbero rifatta subito, altri non te l'avrebbero fatta pagare) il prezzo era maggiorato di poco meno di 1€ per l'aggiunta del pomodoro. Siamo rimasti tutti allibiti e al momento di pagare ci è stato detto che loro la pizza l'avevano servita e che le aggiunte si pagano. Sinceramente non ne valeva neanche la pena di discutere per 11€ quindi abbiamo pagato e ce ne siamo andati decidendo di scrivere questa recensione per condividere la nostra esperienza negativa perchè come diceva il famoso detto: va bene tutto ma non ho "l'anello al naso", il Cliente va rispettato e servito nel miglior modo possibile e non fregato perchè probabilmente è un turista. Mi dispiace ma non mi vedranno mai più, nè a me nè a tutti i miei...

In short: (mostly) good food for good prices, but far too slow. We went there on a Tuesday, ten people max in the place. It took ages before the waitress came with the menu, and even longer before we could order and over 25 minutes before we had something to drink. The waitress was nice (did not speak English, but we both managed) and apologized at least twice. The food was fine, but the fresh tuna was quite overdone (I asked for medium).
