I wish I could give 100 stars for service and 100 more for food. We came here based on reviews, and Jamel did not disappoint at all. The restaurant facade seems unassuming and simple, but do not be fooled. The moment we walked up, we were welcomed so warmly in perfect English by our host (note: as an Australian travelling around Europe, I do not expect everyone to speak English, it's just an observation). Everyone was so attentive and constantly ensured we were well stocked with breads and refresher towels and that the table was cleared. The menu and specials were carefully explained, and we hooked in on the clams, razor clams, and mussels with croutons starter - it was divine, and I didn't want it to end. Next, we had the king crab pasta special, which was also heavenly. Every mouthful was full of flavour. Jamel's also catered, without judgement, to all the requests of the fussy eaters in our party. The host even joked that "if you ordered tiramisu for starters that up to you." We had a moment with some wasps while dining outside, and they were quick to sort things out and move us. A wonderful, delicious meal with kind hosts. An...
Read moreDear google users. I used to think when in Italy you can’t go wrong with food, well think twice. I went for dinner at this place and the experience was less than underwhelming. I will try to describe the dishes as good as I can. Starting by the chef’s grill, you would expect lovely grilled pieces of juicy meat, instead you get a hotdog sausage, a a smashed sausage and two pork chops overdone. Not impressed so far. However things are about to get worse. Ordered a carbonara( you would definitely think you can’t go wrong with this one in Italy right?) ohh well this was some kind of buttery pasta with bacon cubes from Lidl and trust me when I say it tasted like nothing its an understatement. But well the frozen chips were somewhat decent at leat that they can do. Bottom line is dont waste your time here if you’re passing by Jamel, the best thing you can do is go to the toilet and get out of there. Mediocre food. Just to make clear the staff seems to be working hard and it’s probably not...
Read moreI've been to Jamel many times now, and each visit has left me absolutely stuffed! It's a lovely and cozy restaurant, just like a charming trattoria. The food there is absolutely delicious, and the portions are incredibly generous! There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from, but my personal favorite is the fresh catch of the day, especially the fish. It's the perfect place for families and friends to gather, enjoy a hearty meal with plenty to go around, and have a great time chatting and laughing all night long. Whenever I'm in the area, Jamel is always my top choice to satisfy my cravings and leave with a...
