La Stube - La Biblioteca - Malga Rin Bianco — Restaurant in Auronzo di Cadore

We ate at the Malga on a Saturday evening. The restaurant inside is very well presented, the overall service is quite well. What disappointed us greatly was the gap between the pretentious description of the dishes and what was served to us. We had two plates of gnocchi, two modest portions which floated one in butter, the other in cream. The other 2 main courses were too dry and the dish of venison pappardelle was unbeatable, in my opinion. The two seconds we took, described as local luganeghe and a particular flour polenta, were 4 simple sausages and a polenta that was tasteless, lightly salted and probably undercooked, due to the consistency it had, and I am Venetian and I know the polenta very well. We stopped here after finishing the Tre Cime hike, right as they were closing the kitchen. The kind and gracious waitstaff allowed us to order even though they were closing, and didn’t make us feel rushed even though we were, in my opinion, being bad customers for eating so close to closing time! The food we ordered was absolutely delicious - real Tyrolean fare. The prices were very reasonable, I think, with regards to the location, the quality of the food, and the great service. What a lovely surprise! The place is amazing and the room were we had dinner is something that you really have to see, check the pictures. The person who helped us is super gentle and very professional! A big thank you to her. And now the food: we started with a super good glass of prosecco and then we took the "i formai" a plate of different types of cheese served with unusual types of honey and jam (all very tasty and delicious). Then we had some steak tagliata and costata with grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes... Very good! We finished with some awesome dessert 😊 We will visit...
