Went jul24.
don’t take online, WhatsApp or email booking - by phone only. Don’t speak English, so booking is hard for some of us. Restaurant not sign posted, just a door bell. There is a car park but it only takes cash and Italian only instructions .
An Italian friend booked over the phone for us, but when we got there, there was no sign of our booking. Kindly they managed to squeeze us in.
This is an extremely local , old school restaurant- one of only a handful on the island . They produce their own red wine, but I’m afraid it wasn’t to my taste.
We were served the mixed starters before sitting down and before being shown any menu. The starters consisted of four or five mixed courses including mussels and tomato sauce, pizza, bread and mozzarella with tomatoes. we were presented a menu for the main course and I ordered pasta with a fillet steak. However a sirloin steak arrived which was a lower price point on the menu, however they still charged the price of the fillet steak. Steak was under-seasoned - tried asking for salt and pepper a few times but it didn’t arrive, so steak went uneaten.
In summary a fantastically beautiful and local restaurant though quite challenging for...
Read moreA world of enchantment awaits you at La Vigna di Alberto. This was the most exceptional restaurant experience of my life! I was mesmerized entering this lush oasis of grapevine hanging from the outdoor roof and trees intertwining with the restaurant setting. Warm soft lighting from diverse beautiful lamps and low volume jazzy tunes - it all added to an atmosphere of serenity. You felt instantly at ease in a fairytale-like world and really sense the care & love the owner, Francesco, has put into this wonder. Once seated you were served their own fabulous wine. Then exquisite culinary creations kept appearing by a very kind, caring and attentive staff. The owner, Francesco, is a unique and interesting character and you’d be lucky if you get a chance to chat with him as he roams among the tables keeping a gentle eye on it all moving effortlessly. This gem of a place has an exclusive yet rustique and entirely unpretentious feel to it. I was spellbound with amazement the entire evening and had a hard time leaving at the end. Don’t miss out on this captivating experience! Make sure of a reservation beforehand and preferably bring cash. Grazie di...
Read moreAn unforgettable experience. Alberto's is almost impossible to find or access without a local guide. As others have mentioned you need to be buzzed through the front door (which is unmarked). From the street the restaurant appears closed, almost derelict. However, once you enter you are treated to an utterly enchanting experience consisting of a fabulously intimate environment paired with delicious local food served home-style. Plate after plate simply showed up at our table, courses of risotto, pasta, rabbit, cauliflower croquettes, sausages. We ate outside under the vines with garlic and onions hanging to dry above our heads. There were no gimmicks, just great food in a delightful setting. Ensure you take a moment to peruse the enormous quantity of photographs inside detailing the history of the building and restaurant.
In summation: easily the best meal I've had this year and potentially in my life, with a price that was so low we thought the bill was per-person instead of for our...
