I would give this restaurant 100 stars if I could. Everything is 100% perfect. We stayed close by for 3 nights and ate here on our first and last night. A great choice of menu. The chips (French fries) are homemade And Not frozen. On my visits I had Bruscetta both times. Obviously. I also had a tomato and mozzarella based Penne pasta And the steak. Lascio raramente recensioni, ma questa esperienza è stata inaccettabile. Sono arrivato alla Taverna Pietro Paolo Detto Stalino intorno alle 14:00. Avevo provato a chiamare per prenotare, ma nessuno ha risposto. L’uomo che si è presentato come proprietario e gestore è stato freddo, scortese e pieno di sé. Mi ha detto di tornare alle 16:00 e ha scritto il mio nome su un quaderno, ma sembrava solo una finta.
Quando sono tornato, il ristorante era pieno e lui mi evitava completamente. Mi ha riconosciuto, ma non mi ha né salutato né considerato. Quando gli ho ricordato della prenotazione, ha semplicemente detto: “Non c’è posto,” senza alcuna spiegazione o scusa. Quando ho chiesto di parlare con il responsabile, mi ha risposto con arroganza: “Sono io il proprietario. Questa è casa mia. Ora vai via.”
Il tono, l’atteggiamento e l’arroganza maschilista sono stati incredibili. Come turista solo, mi sono sentito totalmente ignorato e non benvenuto. Se trattano così chi non fa parte di un gruppo numeroso o “importante,” questo posto non merita la sua reputazione. L’ospitalità dovrebbe partire dal rispetto – non dall’ego e dalla superbia.
Evitatelo se volete essere trattati con un minimo di rispetto.
Extremely rude and unprofessional owner – tourists beware
I rarely leave reviews, but this was unacceptable. I arrived at Taverna Pietro Paolo Detto Stalino around 2:00pm. I tried calling earlier to book, but no one answered. The man who claimed to be the owner and manager was cold, dismissive, and arrogant. He told me to come back at 4:00pm and reluctantly wrote my name in a notebook—clearly just for show.
When I returned, the place was packed, and he avoided me completely. Despite recognizing me, he didn’t greet or acknowledge me. When I reminded him about my booking, he simply said, “No table,” without any apology or explanation. When I asked to speak to someone in charge, he smugly replied, “I’m the owner. This is my house. Now go.”
The tone, attitude, and macho arrogance were shocking. As a solo tourist, I felt totally disrespected and unwelcome. If this is how they treat people who aren’t part of a big group or “important,” then this restaurant doesn’t deserve its reputation. Hospitality should start with basic respect — not ego and entitlement.
