The pizza here surpasses that of many restaurants in Naples; it can outshine most of the pizzas found in Florence's dining establishments.
Exceptional fermentation technique: the dough carries a subtle tang of fermentation, just the right amount to enhance the flavor. It strikes a balance between not being too sour and not too dry.
Superior cooking method: when you take a slow bite, the crust delights with its crispy and chewy texture. The inner part boasts a relative thickness that allows you to savor the rich layers of flavor derived from the fermented dough.
Fresh ingredients: the olive oil is of excellent quality, and the dough is cooked to an al dente perfection that clearly showcases its natural fermentation process rather than relying on artificial additives.
Artistic spontaneity in preparation: I had the opportunity to try the same pizza twice, and each time it presented a slightly different taste. The final presentation of the dish seems to be intimately tied to the chef's mood at the time, resulting in a fascinating dining experience. Furthermore, the arrangement of ingredients varies each time, skillfully considering the combination of flavors without adhering to strict conventions like Japanese cuisine. The cuisine is serious, yet exudes the spontaneity characteristic of Neapolitan tradition.
A heartfelt family-run restaurant: on one occasion, I engaged in a conversation with the staff after a satisfying meal and was delighted to witness their passionate discussion about which bread to pair with a particular dish. It became evident that these Neapolitans truly possess a profound love for food.
If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend trying their pizza and engaging in a conversation with the restaurant staff after your meal. Don't worry about the language barrier, as they are more than willing to utilize Google Translation. You should also take the opportunity to introduce the specialties of your hometown; the chef will undoubtedly be delighted to hear about them.
Moreover, the top-floor Terrace offers a breathtaking view of Mount Vesuvius.
The only aspect that could be improved is the lighting on the Terrace during dinner time. By replacing the direct incandescent light with warm lighting directed towards the ground, the view of the distant volcano would become even...
Read moreYou wouldn't think it from the surrounding neighborhood, but trust me when I say this restaurant is a hidden gem. At the recommendation of our AirBNB host, we took a chance on it for our last meal of two weeks in Italy, and it did not disappoint! My wife even said that of all the meals we'd had from Venice to Florence to Rome to Amalfi, the paccheri con polpo e pomodorini she got there was probably her favorite meal of the trip. Our younger son's final wish for spaghetti con lupini e vongole came true, and our older son traded his paccheri dish with my gnocchi gorgozola e noci so we could indulge in both dishes. Come dolce, although we had hoped to find tiramisu and gelato, they only had a hazelnut gelato; but I got to try the Neapolitan special "babà" (sponge cake soaked in rum), and we had a lovely cheesecake. We enjoyed dinner on the rooftop deck, which has a lovely view of what appears to be an orchard below, and is shielded from the less pleasant street on the other side. Our server (wish I had got his name!) was eager to please, informative, and incredibly accommodating. L'angolo delivered in spades, leaving us with flavor to savor until our next...
Read moreWe loved this place! Six of us visited Pompeii and were looking for a late lunch at 2 pm. We were greeted kindly and were immediately shown to a table. Our waiter spoke English which was ever so helpful. They were out of the regular pizza crust but we got the gluten free crust and it was the BEST I have ever had! Not exaggerating! I’m not gluten free but my son is and three of the six of us ordered GF pizza since they didn’t have wheat crust and were not disappointed! I couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. We ordered the mortadella pizza and the Vesuvio. Others in our party ordered the destructo burger and the cream sauce Gorgonzola gnocchi which were equally as spectacular! If you are in the area, definitely stop in and enjoy a superb meal! The local wine, which I think was called Greco di tutti, and had Dionysus on the label, was also amazing! This place is highly recommended and if I ever make it back I’ll definitely stop in for this place. It was totally worth it and I NEVER write restaurant reviews!...
