Having organized my birthday directly with the owner whom we met last year during a holiday visiting family in the area) I was so looking forward to a celebration filled with family, excellent food, wine, service and a superior setting.
Upon being seated, we were descended upon by 4 floor staff; one for the water, one to set up a side take, one to take our order and the sommelier - all at once - like a swarm of locusts after torrential rainfall. The speed of which we were made to order from antipasto to primo faster than the Japanese bullet train which as you can imagine started off my evening with a very nervous, rushed and anxiety ridden manner. The sommelier proceeds to suggest a local wine which was not up to par - something to which he himself admitted to eventually- which prompted me why he even suggested it in the first place.
During our primo course, just trying to establish calm from the fury, we were approached again by the head server asking what we wanted for our second course. I had no choice but to send him away trekking him that I would like to enjoy my evening rather then be pressured and prodded to rush through my evening.
After having finished our pasta quite honestly I had had enough and wanted just to go through the ceremony of eating my chocolate birthday cake that I had arranged with the order, blow my candle out and leave. I was told that the owner was on location however did not come to greet us despite the fact.
For as much as our dinner was rushed, when it came to my cake we were completely abandoned. No one but no one came to our table for 40 minutes. As I was just to suggest to my husband and family that we should leave, there my cake was - exactly the cake I did not order.
For what was such an important celebration to me - one that I have not been able to enjoy with my Italian family due to the pandemic, this was the absolute worst birthday and dining experience I've ever had. Staff needs MAJOR training about the importance in creating an experience for guests, the need to give guests attention and space in the right proportions, the need to pair wines melifluosly, the need to pay attention to detail and above all, the need to provide guests (especially returning ones) with superior service.
The food, mediocre at best. I think that due to the fury and confusion caused by staff none of us even remember what we ate. Such a shame and lack of respect for the ingredients when you consider the ingredients that were cultivated to prepare that meal. Such a waste of money for having spent a considerable amount for such a horrid evening.
Shame on the owner for not coming to my table nor for not reaching out personally (we are connected via social).
Let's just say that this was a birthday I'd...

Read moreNo words can describe it!!! A family-run restaurant managed by a lovely local family. The kitchen is sparkling clean—they even let me in, where we met the mother, Teodora, who together with the chef is behind all the goodness brought to our table, and the talented son, Marco, who patiently explained every single dish that was served. Each dish that came to the table was more amazing than the one before it. The presentation was delightful, and the tableware perfectly complemented the beauty of the food. We drank a local beer with an incredible taste (photo attached). This place is not just worth visiting—it’s worth going out...
