We were touring my cousin's town. He took us all around to Buccheri, after our city tour we went for lunch and had an amazing meal here.
The waiter told us we couldn't get pizza. I'm assuming they don't fire up the pizza oven until dinner. This was fine because it allowed us to focus on pasta.
Before pasta we needed drinks. We started with a carafe of red wine, sparkling water and a large beer. Of course, we had to stay hydrated in this summer heat. We also had some olives as well as an antipasto plate. The olives, cheese and prosciutto were very good. The cheese and sun dried tomatoes were just okay.
Next came our lunch. I ordered the penne al pistachio which was simply incredible. It was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had in my life. It was basically a pistachio cream sauce. The sauce was very rich but I couldn't stop eating it.
Our daughter ordered the ravioli di ricotta e spinaci. As she was eating her pasta, she found a giant piece of tender beef hiding under the ravioli. It was like uncovering a hidden culinary treasure. I thought that she was going to give the meat to me but she ate it all. She's really smart. She did share a tiny bite with me and now I know why she ate the whole thing. The meat was good and very tender. It was probably cooking in the sauce all day long. The home made ravioli were also amazing too.
My wife got the farfalle al salmone which was also very rich. The salmon was blended into a cream sauce. It was not my favorite of the day. I'm glad I didn't order it. It was too much salmon sauce for me.
My cousin got a meat plate with sausage and beef. It looked really amazing. He couldn't cut his meat with the butter knife they gave him, so he went to his car and got his Swiss Army knife. It was so Sicilian of him and it definitely got the job done. Luckily, he shared his sausage with me and it was honestly the best piece of sausage I ever had in my life. It was also spicy too. I really wish I knew the seasonings they used to make this. It's incredible in Sicily how delicious the meat is. Every restaurant is using clean meat that simply melts in your mouth when you eat it.
I'd highly recommend this place, if you find yourself in this cute little town. It's not a big city and I didn't see many tourists visiting. I'm glad we got to see my cousin's hometown. He's been asking us to come here for the last 10 years and I'm glad we...
Read moreThis place makes amazing food! Nothing fancy, but just good homemade food. We had a plate of ravioli fungi, mix fried meats and pasta pomodoro - very delicious! We also tried the desserts, but I think they may be store bought. I would recommend any time and would go back again :) prices...
