I went there last night for dinner with my wife and children. The atmosphere was great with a beautiful view of the Caccamo Castle lit up, a great cool breeze and amazing view of the valley. The food we ordered was delicious! From the Magno antipasti, the tomahawk pork steak to the mixed grill plates for my son and the one that was part of my wife's tasting that she ordered were all great! We tried a few pastas as well including the wild boar tagliatelle... amazing! The only issue...was the service. They were either understaffed or overwhelmed by the amount of guest that were there because it took over two hours for our meal from the minute we sat until we paid the check. Not a huge deal, but just making a note of it. But that seems to be the norm at all places we visited while in Sicily for almost 2 weeks now. I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor for me when it comes to going back there because everything else made up for it. Thank you for one of the best dinners we had since...

The wait after we were seated and before the waiter came to take our order was 10-15 minutes, even though we were among the first guests and the restaurant was almost empty. The waiters only spoke rudimentary English amongst themselves. For a restaurant located near a tourist attraction, I would have expected more. We waited more than an hour from appetizers to the main course. The food was mediocre at best. I had ordered tagliata but got the uncut steak instead. I would also have expected the waiter to point out that the portions were quite large. When we ordered second bottle of water, the waiter brought sparkling one even thought we ordered still for the first one. Even our children, who were very fond of Sicilian cuisine, complained about the experience. The worst restaurant on our 10-day trip...

Have eaten here twice, giving Castellana a second chance. Its probably great if you are a local and speak the language, but for English speakers, it is very difficult. Our first waitress was short with us while we tried to translate the menu. They offer an "English" version menu, but it is very unclear and not well translated/written. The second experience was the same with an older male waiter who was more rude even though I expressed my sincere apologies. I tried to add a salad to my meal and the waiter kept pointing to the main dish I ordered. After several attempts of saying "e insalata" and him pointing, I had to presume he was telling me it came with a salad because, why else wouldnt they want to increase the bill? No salad ever came. Food is okay. The outdoor seating area is a...

The Fiocchette dish was the best pasta I have ever had, the sauce was unbelievably delicious and it had great presentation (looked like little presents)! The Tagliatelle Alla Siciliana was also very good, the zucchini was a little over cooked however. I had the Scialatielle Cacio e Pepe maritati con il Macco (pictured), and the sauce was delcious creamy cheese. Each of the three pasta dishes my group got had completely different flavors but were each delicious! This place may seem like a tourist trap, but it is totally worth eating at. Very nice atmosphere and reasonable prices! I recommend having your table order different things so you can try them all ❤
