I only need one word to describe my visit to Adagio: IMPRESSED!
This gem of a fine-dining restaurant, surrounded by the vineyards of Calamandrana, has a lovely ambiance for a culinary night out. From the beginning till the end we were welcomed and looked after by the headwaiter and sommelier with warmth, professionalism and enthusiasm.
We ordered the 5-course menu prepared by head chef Mario and his team. The level of detail in the presentation of the courses was impressive! The presentation of the starter raised the bar and the team kept surprising us throughout the evening. Top notch presentation, use of local products (homegrown hazelnuts) and rich flavours, combined with carefully selected wines from the region. The live-playing pianist contributed nicely to the elegant setting. It just made the whole evening perfect.
Thank you Mario and team for the unforgettable evening and introduction to Piemonte’s food and wine culture. It was a pleasure to meet you. Will come...
Read moreCame back to this lovely hotel which combines ancient atmosphere with all the modern domotica. The view is stunning & hospitality warm & very professional. We went for diner at their Adagio restaurant:
The amuses were top from the start: tuna (with a great meat inspired sauce). Quail egg was superb, fried parmesan with tartare too. The mushroom dish was ok , think sauce was a little to overwhelming - btw excellent service & sommelier knowledge (Ara Viognier suggestion was super) & La Spinetta- Gallina was a great lenghty Barbaresco. The risotto was perfectly balanced. We then got the venison which was a lesson in back to basics : let the meat speak for itself and add the bare essentials. But the best was yet to come: a combination of sabayon, crumble, ricotta & chocolate: for me one of the top 3 desserts I ever ate! This young team is cooking & serving guests already at a very high level but the potential is there to become absolute top...
Read moreWe've had the pleasure to dine here with our family and taste the newly developed menu of their chef Mario.
The restaurant sits on a beautiful hilltop location and is newly renovated. Inside we sat on comfy chairs while enjoying relaxing live piano music (e.g. Dave Brubeck and classical music). The staff were all very welcoming, able to explain all details on every dish in perfect English.
Exquisite flavours and impeccable attention to detail could be found in every plate. The same could be said for the drinks, pre-dinner their award winning mixologist/bartender listened to all our tastes and advised the right cocktails to choose, all of which were remarkable! During dinner the wine pairing was equally amazing (amplified by the stunning glassware of Riedel!), matching well with all plates that were served to our table.
For anyone who enjoys a fine-dining experience I can recommend this...
