Sano Banano — Restaurant in Cannero Riviera

We had a disappointing experience at this restaurant on our last day of the trip. My partner and I paid our bill at the counter separately from the rest of our group, and we left the restaurant while the others were still seated. However, when the rest of the group came to pay, the staff claimed that we had not paid.

We had the receipt as proof of payment, so we had to come back at the restaurant but the staff were skeptical and questioned whether we had indeed paid, which was frustrating and uncomfortable. Even after confirming with a bar staff member who remembered us, the issue was not resolved gracefully, and no apology was offered for the inconvenience.

We were here 20 years ago and at the time our son (4 years old) really loved the spaghetti bolognese. For the last 20 years he always reminded us that it was the best spaghetti in the world. Yesterday we came back with our son. Although spaghetti bolognese was no longer on the menu (please put it back, only penne bolognese now) the chef prepared the famous dish and we concluded it had not lost its magic taste. Excellent pizza probably the best I’ve had in a long time however the place is let down with the service. It took over ten minutes for our drinks to arrive. The adjoining table didn’t even receive the wine they ordered. We tried to attract our waiters attention for 10 minutes for the dessert menu. After this another ten minutes to place the order then after another 15 minutes waiting for it to arrive we decided to just forget...
