Ristorante Dal Mercantin — Restaurant in Caorle

They took over the older Trattoria Emiliana, which I was visiting every year (hidden somewhere in the Brian village). They had fantastic dishes.

They have now a different menu in which the fish price is “ask the waiter”. If you ask, you find out it is something like 'fiftyeen' (fifteen too cheap, fifty a bit expensive).

Ended up paying 40 euro for 2 portions of fish, so that means about 50 euro/kg. I have no problem with the price, but due to the lack of transparency, this was the end of my yearly visit of the nice restaurant in Brian.

The taste was pretty good and the personnel was really ok, so in terms of quality of food - pretty good. Non-transparent pricing is the main deal breaker.

To make a comparison, a grilled Branzino at the previous Trattoria Emiliana was 13 euro regardless of size. And they also had some...

I almost never leave reviews but this was one of the worst dinners in recent memory. We came at around 8:30 on a Saturday night with a party of seven (adults and kids). It was busy and we were seated inside. We waited more than an hour for an antipasti and then they served some of primi piatti at the same time while others had to wait another 20 minutes. When the rest finally came, the spaghetti vongole and busera were so salty they were inedible. But the worst part was that the staff simply didn’t really care. Even simple service courtesies like asking if we wanted anything else to drink were ignored. Food was plopped down on the table without care and the owner hardly apologized for the terrible service, food and extremely long wait....

Absolutely awful experience.

As a family of 7 we came for dinner at around 8:30. The food arrived at random times, with complete ignorance of what course it was. Our starters arrived at the same time as some of our mains, and mind you, some of the mains arrived 1 hour after each other. If that wasn’t enough, the majority of our dishes were inedible due to the extreme salt amounts and had to be redone.

We were not able to eat at the same time and the employees showed no care for their mistakes. They even seemed to be annoyed that we had problems. We left at 11 without receiving any sort of compensation for our bad experience.
